The stables- Wednesday after classes

After class, Susan went for a walk around the dorms. She was feeling more put off by her strange visitors than she would like. She often found herself looking for them, or listening for the sound of skeletal feet against the floor. She realized this was ridiculous. Lucrezia had no horse, at this school. Nor had she had her own horse at the Borgia house at the Holy See. As Lady Sforza, she had been permitted to use her husband's gorgeous Arab mare, and at times his bay, but she would easily trade those delights for the much greater pleasure of never seeing the Lord Sforza again.

That did not mean she did not miss Fatima and Diablo, or the comfort their daily rides gave her. And so it was on Wednesday, after a particularly trying weekend, that she found herself wandering to the stables, hoping to be soothed by the presence of the horses themselves.

What she saw, instead, was a horse the likes of which she never could have imagined. So white that it appeared to glow. So fast that it seemed its hooves did not touch the ground.

Forgive Lucrezia if all she could manage was to stare, awestruck.

You know. Walking on air.

Not that Susan realized this yet. She thought maybe Lucrezia just liked horses. "Hello."

"Hello," Lucrezia said. The horse was walking slower, now, and its hooves still did not touch the ground. Was this another hornless unicorn? Did it fly? Perhaps this was a form of flying that was very low to the ground.

"Sorry," she added, a smile working slowly over her face. "I don't mean to interrupt. He's magnificent."

"Thank you," said Susan because it was polite, but she felt a bit like that was taking credit for him. "I think he was a gift."

She still wasn't exactly sure what was going on, no.
