Third Floor Common Room, Monday Morning

Jan 03, 2011 09:16

Leia had somehow managed to not have any classes until Thursday, giving her a five day weekend, which was perfect to dealing with the Senate business and other news from home she had to work through. But she was taking a break at the moment to rummage for breakfast in the common room. Distractions, particularly if they were in the shape of cute ( Read more... )

Alexander, unfortunately, could not escape the curse of plenty of extra classes in subjects he doubted would even be useful, but he was a firm believer in taking advantage of the luxury of a decent breakfast every morning, so he was finding his way to the common room.

"Oh, good morning," he said, when he'd spotted there was already someone there, seeming to be engaged in the activity he was just about to pursue. "Have you found anything particularly good in the cupboards yet?"

Leia pulled her head out of the fridge and wrinkled her nose. "About this much orange juice," she said, indicating about an inch with her thumb and forefinger, "yogurt that is way past its expiration date, half an banana, and something I can't identify."

The answer, though leaving the stomach wanting, at least satisfied one's amusement and Alexander grinned. "It appears as though whatever usually keeps these kitchettes stocked took a break over the holiday as well," he said. "How trustworthy do you suppose the unidentified item is?"

Leia pulled the plastic container out of the fridge and set it on the counter. The contents were green and fuzzy, which in her experience was a delicacy on some worlds, but it wasn't exactly making her own stomach eager to try.

"I think it moved," she said, eyeing the container suspiciously. "You may not want to open it unless you're armed. Just in case."

Percy, unfortunately, hadn't taken his shirt off so Leia wouldn't be seeing any skin from him. He did wander into the common room to see if he could scrounge up some breakfast and kill some time.

"Morning," he greeted, giving Leia a brief nod. "Up early too?"

"No classes today, but I'm hungry," Leia said, giving him a smile. "Unfortunately what I've found to eat so far is questionable at best."

"How questionable is questionable?" Percy wondered, raising an eyebrow. "Like old Pop Tarts and moldy bread questionable?"

Leia cautiously prodded the container she'd shown Alexander down the counter in Percy's direction. "Questionable as in I have no idea what this is questionable," she said. "I could've sworn it moved, though."

Food. Fooooood.

That had been the first thought Charlie had had the moment she had woken up in...well, a graveyard. After freaking out and remembering the last day, she decided to check the dorms. There might be food there.

Up to the third floor she went in search of food, until the smell of something that could be breakfast reached her. Yes, she was stopping here, and probably stare at the fridge for a moment, wondering if she was hungry enough to take a peek and perhaps get some food without asking.

She did spare a moment to look at Leia, though she had something of a 'don't mess with me 'cuz I'm hungry' stare going on; not that she knew.

Leia didn't recognize the girl but figured she must be new what with the picnic yesterday and all, so she'd excuse the look. This time. "It's a communal food area, you're welcome to anything you can find," she said. "But I have to warn you, there's not much here today. Someone needs to do some shopping."

"Anything solid and not rotten will make the cut." She wasn't picky, after all. Opening the fridge, she stared at it for a little while before deciding that the forgotten apple on a side was edible. It better. Everything tasted good when you were hungry anyway.

"When you say someone", added as she inspected the apple. "You mean someone in particular or just an altruist soul?"

Leia shrugged. "I'm not really sure," she said. "People just put their extra food in here if they don't mind sharing. If anyone's assigned to get food they've never told me. It's just understood that putting food in the cupboards or fridge means it's up for grabs. But with the holidays there hasn't been many people around to get food."
