Third Floor Common Room, Monday Morning

Jan 03, 2011 09:16

Leia had somehow managed to not have any classes until Thursday, giving her a five day weekend, which was perfect to dealing with the Senate business and other news from home she had to work through. But she was taking a break at the moment to rummage for breakfast in the common room. Distractions, particularly if they were in the shape of cute ( Read more... )

Food. Fooooood.

That had been the first thought Charlie had had the moment she had woken up in...well, a graveyard. After freaking out and remembering the last day, she decided to check the dorms. There might be food there.

Up to the third floor she went in search of food, until the smell of something that could be breakfast reached her. Yes, she was stopping here, and probably stare at the fridge for a moment, wondering if she was hungry enough to take a peek and perhaps get some food without asking.

She did spare a moment to look at Leia, though she had something of a 'don't mess with me 'cuz I'm hungry' stare going on; not that she knew.

Leia didn't recognize the girl but figured she must be new what with the picnic yesterday and all, so she'd excuse the look. This time. "It's a communal food area, you're welcome to anything you can find," she said. "But I have to warn you, there's not much here today. Someone needs to do some shopping."

"Anything solid and not rotten will make the cut." She wasn't picky, after all. Opening the fridge, she stared at it for a little while before deciding that the forgotten apple on a side was edible. It better. Everything tasted good when you were hungry anyway.

"When you say someone", added as she inspected the apple. "You mean someone in particular or just an altruist soul?"

Leia shrugged. "I'm not really sure," she said. "People just put their extra food in here if they don't mind sharing. If anyone's assigned to get food they've never told me. It's just understood that putting food in the cupboards or fridge means it's up for grabs. But with the holidays there hasn't been many people around to get food."

So the altruist souls were the food providers. Awesome. Taking a bite from the apple, Charlie deemed it good, and her mood eased a little. "Because there are stores in town", said, perhaps more to herself. "Anywhere I can buy clothes in here?" If it looked as if she was just going to keep getting all the information she could from Leia, then it probably was exactly that.

"Pixie Dust," Leia said. "I've never gone in there, but I've passed by the store. Looks like they have a variety of clothing in there." She offered her hand to the blonde girl. "I'm Leia. Senior."

Pixie Dust. Somehow she didn't know what to expect now. "Sounds...like a costume shop." One that put glitter on everything, if possible. Charlie shook the hand, but it was brief, a little detached, and she didn't hide the fact she, well...didn't like to be touched. "Charlie. Sophomore, for what is worth."

Leia pulled back her hand, giving the girl a critical look. "Are you from this world?" she asked.

That got her staring at her again, because she hadn't considered that until now. "I..." Well, apparently she had no idea. "Don't know", said at last, perhaps with too much frustration in her voice. "I didn't precisely ask to end up here."

"That's not entirely uncommon," Leia said. "You're still on Earth, if that's any comfort."

Leia, don't traumatize the poor girl.

Beyond certain point, further traumatizing was moot. Charlie just rolled her eyes at her.

"Wait, so not everyone comes here against their will?" She had deduced as much, but hadn't really asked to anyone. "And, no shit, for a moment I thought Mars was a little bit greener than the last time I saw it. What bothers me is the whole 'people from other Earths' thing." The only way of knowing would involve trying to find the Shop...and that was the last thing she wanted to do.

"...Can someone leave the island? As in, right to the city nearby?" She just liked her bad ideas.

Roll your eyes at Leia and you get introduced to the bitch, please face fast.

"You might want to find out a little more about Fandom before you shoot your mouth off about other worlds," she said coolly.

This was going to end well.

"I didn't even say a thing about said other worlds. I don't care about said other worlds, and I would certainly like to know if this is my own fucking world, or if I'm stuck in Fantasy Island, Crystal Meth edition, thank you very fucking much."

She was going to bite her apple again now.

"If this is how you treat everyone who is trying to be helpful, you're in for a lot of fun here," Leia said, rolling her eyes right back at Charlie. "With your charming little personality you'll make friends fast."

Now she was almost hoping that the girl was going to be in her father's class. Pull attitude like that and she'd get eaten alive.

"Look, I'm not trying to piss you off here, I swear." Making friends wasn't at the top of her list though. "You got all grumpy when I mentioned the other worlds thing, so perhaps I hit a nerve? Sorry?" It was hardly an apologetic tone, but she couldn't manage anything better.

"I just want to know if something bad happens when you try to leave."

"You rolled your eyes at me while I was trying to help you," Leia helpfully pointed out. "That's not going to endear you to anyone around here. As for leaving the island, I've done it quite often. My father teaches her, and he lives on the mainland."
