Dorm Lawn [Sunday Afternoon]

Jan 24, 2010 11:41

Claire and her shiny new Christmas present from Jack were outside the dorms, trying to keep more of the nasty little critters from getting inside.

Her shooting skills still weren't fantastic, but the zat handled better than a regular gun and she was doing well enough, if the scattered scaly bodies around her were anything to do by.

Jon was doing much the same, zatting the gremlins, but he was doing it with style.

Which meant he was making wise-cracks while pulling the trigger.

"You wanted that death with a side of extra-crispy? Sorry, we've only got tingly."

Claire rolled her eyes at him. "Do you think they actually understand you?" she asked.

He pointed at one which was chattering angrily while dodging shots. "Yes." He fired three more times at the stupid thing, but it got away.

"They're like, mutated teenage versions of the ones in the vents!"

"They are nasty critters," she agreed. "It's sad, cause they were so cute and cuddly on Friday."

She caught sight of a gremlin in her peripheral vision and turned to aim her zat at it.

Sookie didn't particularly want to venture outside to play with the icky things -- she wanted to stay inside with a good book and pretend they didn't exist. But since they were able to get into the dorms, too, she figured a proactive approach was better than sitting around.

Besides, she hadn't gotten to get any target practice with something moving yet.

So she carefully stepped out onto the lawn, keeping close to the building itself, and looked around at the fallen bodies. "You've been busy," she observed.

"Trying to be," Claire said with a nod, glancing over to see if Sookie was armed. "I'm not the best shot, but I'm having some luck. They just seem to keep multiplying."

Sookie was not armed, at least visibly. "They seem to get kinda distracted easily, too. It's too bad, 'cause those fuzzy guys on Friday were adorable."

"They really were," Claire agreed. "I don't understand why they became so vicious over night."

She frowned when she realized Sookie wasn't carrying a weapon. "Do you need a weapon or something?" she asked. "I think there's extras in the weapons locker."

Harper would be happy to help defend the dorms from the gremlins, but first, she needed to defend herself from a trio of gremlins that were chasing after her.

"Help!" she screamed as she ran in circles on the lawn, trying to shake off the little monsters.

Jon heard the scream and quickly zatted two of the gremlins, but the third was just too close to the girl.

"Hey, run that way!" he yelled, pointing towards the end of the building.

"That way! Got it," said Harper, proceeding to run in the wrong direction. At least she didn't trip over her own feet.

But fortunately running was something that Harper actually did well, and she managed to put some distance between herself and the gremlin.

The distance was more than enough for Jon to zat the last gremlin. "Hah! Perfect score!"

And while he was celebrating, something nasty was dumped on his head by another one.

Elle was, basically, doing the same exact thing. "Get back!" she yelped when a gremlin got too close; the words were followed up by a stream of electricity.

She darted to the side, dropping down on one knee and sending another charge flying.

"That seems to be working well," Claire remarked, watching Elle take out one of the gremlins.

"So freakin' glad I can do this," Elle said, pushing herself back to her feet when it looked like there was a lull between gremlins. "I think this is the most useful I've ever been."

Which was sad, really, but anyway, moving on!

"What's that thing there?" she asked, gesturing to the vaguely gun-looking thing in Claire's hands.

"Are you okay?" Claire asked, wanting to make sure she wasn't injured before answering her question.
