Well, yes. In that same way that Francine and Katchoo were BFFs. "I think he's not really had much experience with birthday parties that weren't some kind of formal feast or something; he asked me what kind of things you had to do for one." Francine fished out a piece of mango and sucked on it. "Mine's April Fool's Day. Or as we like to call it at Fandom High, Francine gets turned into a zombie day."

"Oh God, that's right," Dinah said, remembering now. "Aaaiiee. Okay, this year? We do something really cool to make up for last year. Seriously. Huge picnic. Trip to a great restaurant."

On occasion, Dinah noticed... stuff, about Arthur and Merlin. But it was all vague, and nebulous, just smiles or tones of voice, and once some hugging. They were from another millenia. How would she be able to be sure? So she never tried to guess too hard.

"Where they don't serve braaaaains?"

"No braaaains!" Dinah shuddered, then laughed. "Unless you want to try monkey brains?" Ew.

"Ew. Ew. And in conclusion. That. Ew." Dinah grinned. "And non-homicidal vegetables and nothing that looks even vaguely like harpy eggs or guts and... okay, more sushi now. Yes."

That? That would be Merlin hugging Francine for the fact that she made him a cake.

A delicious cake that wasn't a lie.

"Thank you."

It was sort of a lie. It wasn't the kind of cake most people were expecting when they looked at it.

Then again that probably applied to the two people involved in this whole hugging deal, too. "Happy birthday!"

They were a huggy lot, those two. "You and Arthur are the greatest, you know that?"

"The greatest what?" Francine laughed. "And now I'm trying to picture anything in the universe that Arthur and I could both be good at."

"Okay, you got me there. We both tried really hard for that." Even though, you know, Arthur would deny it with his dying breath.

As anyone who'd ever met Arthur knew.

"The cake is the best part," He informed her. "I'm surprised more people aren't excited about it."

"Well, they're not used to seeing their meat in a cake," she pointed out. "Or their cake with meat in it. Whichever."
