Roof; Friday Afternoon

Chuck was bored and tired of hanging around his room so when he finally got out of bed on Friday he decided to get out for a bit. Not to a common room since his post-Thanksgiving hangover wasn't allowing for him to be quite that social at the moment, but he knew he could handle being out on the roof for a bit. It was cold, but nothing Chuck couldn' ( Read more... )

"Chuck Bass," Alex said by way of greeting after stepping onto the roof and noticing someone else was around. "Good to see someone else avoided the dreaded food coma."

"I'm not much into the whole Thanksgiving thing," Chuck said. "Something about passing out into a plate full of mashed potatoes doesn't appeal to me. No idea why."

"There are other fun things you can do on Thanksgiving," he said, smirking. "Doesn't have to be about food. Just gotta find the fun stuff."

"Oh yeah? What qualifies as 'fun stuff' on Thanksgiving?" Chuck asked.

Effy, on this rare occasion, was not rocking a hangover. Not unless turkey was responsible for anything like that. Didn't much feel like it. Actually pretty cheerful, for her, as she wandered out onto the roof.

"Chuck." Her greetings were so lengthly and creative.

"Effy." Look at that, he could be just as creative. "How's it going?"

Time to break out that trademark, nice, non-committal shrug. "Not bad," she replied. "Free food and excessively perky people." Holidays were all good, but there really was an excess of good feelings getting passed around.

"What's not to like?" It was actually quite nice, not that Effy would admit to thinking that.

"I didn't take you as the type who enjoyed perky people," Chuck said with a smirk. "Is there a soft side underneath all that badass?"

Oh look, someone shorter than Chuck had wandered up to the roof looking for, well, nothing really. Just time not spent indoors.

Tugging his coat close, he looked longingly at Chuck's scarf. "Your grandma make that scarf for you?" He'd read about that sort of thing in books, shuttup.

"I don't have a grandmother." Unless you count Lily's mother and the thought of her knitting would be laughable. "I bought it in a store a few years ago."

No, he wasn't going to say what store because this was his trademark scarf.

"Guess it doesn't matter where these things come from when you're battling the elements," he said, keeping the small talk going despite the strong desire to just sit and wait until his hands were finished freezing in his pockets before fleeing to warmth. "Wish the weather here was better. You'd think if they could bring in a whole island of furniture, that there'd be sun and surf year round."

"Screw that, I like the cold." You couldn't wear your scarf in the summer, duh. "And it's not even that bad out here right now."

This kid was just a wuss.

Leda was drunk. Off of what, she would not admit. But she wouldn't deny her state.

"Happy Thanksgiving to the white people and my condolences to the Indians!"

Chuck rolled his eyes. How very edgy of her.

Fortunately for Leda's self esteem she either didn't see the eye roll, or didn't care.

"Hiya Chuck, happy Thanksgiving."
