Taft Campfire: Wednesday Late Afternoon [5-20-09]

May 20, 2009 17:21

Yes, that was Fall Out Boy blasting from Wing 4 of Taft. And that would be Peyton sitting out by the campfire with her feet up, a sketchpad, and a cold drink.

She'd probably be pretty amenable to turning the music down or taking suggestions for the next album.

[Open like a campfire!]

The music is what drew her towards the campfire, but if she dared to catch a glimpse of that boy, she'd turn around and head back to her cabin. She wasn't sure she had it in her tonight to give him her two cents. Lucky for her, it was Peyton.

Smiling as she approached, she sat down rather primly upon a log, her Mary Janes tapping to the beat of the music. And she wiggled her fingers in a wave at Peyton.

Peyton smiled at her. "Hey, Penelope, how's it going?"

"It's been a wonderful day," she replied happily. "I haven't spoken to you in so long; how are you?"

"I'm good," Peyton said. "A little weirded out about having graduated, but good. How are you doing?"

"What's this music?" Valentine asked, her curiosity and a need to know if it was contemporary or something else encouraging her to drift over toward the Taft cabin to inquire.

"Fall Out Boy," Peyton said. "Great band and Pete Wentz is a totally hot bass guitarist."

Valentine paused a moment to listen a little more, but she had to be honest. It mostly just sounded like...music in general to her. "Contemporary?" she asked.

"Uh... yeah," Peyton said. "To me at least. You from this time?"

It was a pretty good indicator that Triela was having a relatively good day that her voice was calm when she asked, "What is that?"

"Fall Out Boy," Peyton said with a smile. "Good, huh?"

"It's... not really my thing," Triela admitted. Which was milder than what she might have said if she were grumpier.

"Oh. Well... it's a big place," Peyton said.

Jen had been out for a run, and gave Peyton a brief nod before heading into the cabin for a shower. When she returned a few minutes later (she took quick showers) she was in light workout pants and a pink (of course) tank top, and settled down on a log with a sheaf of paperwork in her hand.

"Hey," she said, and didn't even bitch about the music. See, she really had loosened up. Paperwork notwithstanding.

"Hey," Peyton said, frowning a little. "Homework?" She hadn't thought graduates would have homework, but maybe...

"What? No," Jen laughed, flipping to the next page. "It's all the red tape I have to deal with to prep for the job I'm taking after I leave."

"Okay," Peyton said with a smile. "I was a little worried there."

Robin heard the music and came to investigate. "I've heard this band before. But I'm not sure."

Peyton blinked at the little felt? frog. "Um, yeah. Fall Out Boy. They're great."

"Fall Out Boy. Cool name. Have we met? I'm Robin, I think I've seen you around."

"I, uh, think I'd remember you if we'd met. I'm Peyton."
