Shilo followed the smell of cooking sausages pretty much the entire way from the drama class to the fire. She hoped that this wasn't a cabin-only cookout, since she didn't recognize the guy who was manning the fire.
He smiled and Makejoy wagged her tail happily at the new arrival, but a subtly spread hand near the dog made sure she stayed put and did not go for scritchings just yet.
"All different kinds. Some are chicken, some are pork, some are beef. If you look on the sticks, I wrapped tape around. The red ones are beef, the yellow chicken, the pork blue. The chicken one is a bit sweet but they're all good."
He leaned down to ruffle Makejoy's fur.
"Would you prefer she stayed away from you? She's well trained and very friendly, but she can stay here if you like."
Yei was exploring. It was a Grand Adventure (with Mommy trailing behind her) and there was... that not-a-cat one.
Well! She would have to investigate. Especially the tail. The tail was interesting.
"Makejoy has a s-small friend," Hinata observed, smiling slightly while keeping an eye out on Yei. "At least she's gotten over her wariness. Hello, Liir."
Yei was going to pounce on the tail. Mwahahaha. It was her tail now!
Hinata stifled a laugh as she took a seat. "I'm well enough for now," she said, smiling at him. "Thank you for the offer though. I'm sure Yei will l-love some, once she's done playing."
Or the food distracted her. It was hard to say which would come first.
Karla was wandering back to the cabin, wondering if Dinah was home yet, when she got distracted by the scent of something delicious. Finding Liir roasting meat at the end was an extra treat.
"Kiss kiss," she said, coming around the campfire. "Food up for grabs?"
Karla did not melt at the sight of the half-grown puppy. To suggest otherwise is slander. However, it is slightly possible that she dropped down to the puppy's height, cooed, and made all sorts of delighted and welcoming noises. "She's so cute! What's her name?" Karla asked. "Is she kindred? Can I speak to her?"
Just in case, she sent a thought along a kindred distaff thread. *Hello there! I'm Karla. Can we be friends?* As a rule, one didn't use baby-speak on the kindred. But this one was okay because she was clearly still only a little girl.
"Her name is Makejoy," he said, clearly amused at the reaction to the dog but unwilling to actually laugh since he was just as much of a fool about her as anyone else.
The puppy couldn't speak back but perhaps she heard something as she bounced a little and moved to lick Karla's hand. Animals, after all, had a sense about these things.
"You're welcome to speak to her, but she doesn't understand common Ozian or anything. She's a dog as opposed to a Dog."
Firekeeper and Blind Seer had entertained thoughts of going hunting for their lunch, but stopped when they saw a fire already going at one of the other cabins.
She gave a nod to Liir and a glance at the different kinds of sausages he'd prepared. "Is for sharing?" she asked, just to be sure.
"No reading," she grinned. "Good." She appreciated a labeling system that eliminated that particular problem, and snagged one for herself and two for Blind Seer.

"Hello. Care for some lunch?"
He gestured to the sticks.
"They're all open."

Liir watched for a moment before nodding to Hinata.
"What have you been up to, then? All well?"

"Yes, very much up for grabs. I've got some drinks stashed here as well."
Makejoy peered at her from behind Liir's leg.

"Certainly," he told her.
"Red is beef, yellow chicken, and blue is pork," he told her. "Lemonade's in jars behind me."
