Angela took herself down to the rec room early for party preparations. She'd had an offer of willing help, but also recruited some girl with streaks of pink hair from across the hall to help her bring things down just in case. The other girl's protests that she was pretty sure she had no idea who this guy was fell on deaf ears

Ender wasn't completely sure why he was here, or maybe he was and he just didn't want to admit it. Maybe in some odd way, Hannibal was his friend, too, even if it was one he would often rather avoid.

He took a hat, but didn't put it on. A little annoyed by the very silliness of him being here, he found a nice place to lurk quietly, hat dangling between his fingers.

He should probably leave soon. It was much too loud, much too crowded with people he didn't know, and he felt both a little uncomfortable and a little foolish about feeling uncomfortable all at once.

Angela wandered over at some point, grinning at him. "Hi," she greeted. "I'm Angela." So she had no idea who he was. Like that had ever stopped her before.

He should have, and had, expected that. Ender gave her a brief nod and a slight, polite smile. "Ender," he offered, but not a lot more than that. He toyed with the hat in his hands. "You set this up?"

Joan left a small red gift bag that contained two t-shirts and a gift certificate for dinner at Outback.

Amber left a gift bag for Hannibal that included a t-shirt, something purple, because it was her favorite color and it amused her, and some chocolate. And maybe he would share some of it. There was also a $25 Turtle & Canary gift certificate.

The simple card read: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Love, Amber

Of course, from Turtle, there was a birthday card and a $50 gift certificate for Turtle & Canary. She loved birthdays; it was the best way to gift herself by gifting others.
