Fightin' Fox Campfire; Thursday Evening.

The more she thought about it, the more Adah realized that, while she mourned the loss of her privacy, she really rather liked the cabins. She kept to herself enough that privacy was never really an issue; it came rather naturally around her. Everything was on the same level, which made going from one place to another a bit easier. And then ( Read more... )

Chad and Prince Oscar Pedro had been out for a walk, but now it would have seemed that it was just the cat, poking its nose around the edge of cabins to see if anything interesting was going on. Chad, it had seemed, fell behind, distracted by what he thought might have been a few teal deer, but neither of the two were entirely concerned for the other. They both figured the other could find their way and, if not, then someone would help them. Drawn in by the firelight, Prince Oscar Pedro very quickly deduced that the girl sitting by it reading was probably not one to dole out pettings (a cat could sense these things fairly easily, after all), but there was another animal nearby, and he slunk up to the rabbit, low to the ground and carefully moving through the shadows, hoping to stealth sniff it.

Focused as heavily as he was on his temptation of the flames, Pride was, indeed, soon to be a victim of stealth sniffing and, once he realized it, he jumped a little. It was a close call; the surprise of another animal having the audacity to approach him in such a manner left him wanted to skitter as far away from it as possible. The only way he could move, however, was forward, into the camp fire. He hopped and stopped with just barely enough time, hopping back quickly and feeling like the end of his fluffy bushy tail was a bit singed. This did not please Pride, not in the slightest, who was very pompous when it came to his tail. With a small sound in his throat, he wriggled his nose a few times with disdain at the odd feline.

He thought about hopping away, as well, but this was his territory. If anyone should leave, it should be the cat.

Prince Oscar Pedro couldn't help noticing that the rabbit was rather jumpy, but that just went to reason. He was pleased that his stealth sniff had been a success, and so he started to purr, and the rabbit's attention was on him, so he started to purr more, and the rabbit was looking at him, so maybe he'd want to play, so Prince Oscar Pedro edged a little closer, purring even more as he went to nuzzle a hello to the bunny. He looked like he had such soft fur! Although probably nothing compared to some of Prince Oscar Pedro's fellow feline friends.

At the sound of Pride's familiar little growl, Adah lifted her eyes from her book, not out of concern (honestly!), but out of mere curiosity, and she blinked at the rabbit's apparent new friend. What...it had the clear skeletal and muscle structure of a feline, but what psychotic, heartless bastard took a razor to the bat-eared thing? She glanced over to Pride as the cat moved in to nuzzle it; Pride, clearly repulsed by the idea of contact with an animal he doubtless deemed inferior to himself, attempted to pack away, but only proceeded in falling on his back with a small, almost squeaking sound.

Adah did a surprisingly good job of just watching and not laughing.

Not long after the pets had drifted off on their explorations, Chad was not far behind, finally having satiated his interest in trying to find those deer again, and he was now looking for where Prince Oscar Pedro had wandered off to. He gave a grunting nod of greeting to the girl reading by one of the campfires before he asked her, "You haven't seen a cat come around here, have you?"

Adah glanced up, albeit reluctantly, from her book and blinked at the tall boy for a moment, as if the words were slow to coming into her half brain. It hadn't been long since the departure, no, but it had been long enough that, for a moment, lost in backward Eop, Adah had forgotten entirely about the animals. She blinked at the boy again before giving a slight glance around, revealing no such creatures. She even glanced to the fire, tilting her head as she scanned the bed of embers and logs and kindling, her nose taking in a few quick sniffs for the scent of burning fur and flesh in the air, of which there was none.

"...Hairless one?" she asked, her attention back to the boy. "Kind of ugly? Giant ears and scrunchy face like those naked mole rats?"

"Yeah, that's the one."

Beat.

"Except that he's not ugly." Chad had to frown a little at that.

"You know which way he went?"

Adah took another glance around before lightly shaking her head. "Not a clue," she admitted. "Wherever he is, I'm sure he's with my rabbit, though."

And then she turned her eyes back to her book, figuring that settled the matter. Or, at the very least, that it would settle the matter as far as she was concerned and the boy could go find the pets himself if he was so concerned.
