Third Floor Common Room: Sunday Morning

Apr 27, 2008 09:15

It had been a long night and for some reason the kids were early risers. So it was a pretty groggy Mel who dragged her kids down the hallway and started setting them up with bowls of cereal and turned on TV in the hopes that it would keep them occupied until the coffee began to work.

"Ron. Seriously. It's a potted plant. Stop hugging it."

Amy charged into the common room at high speed. "HI! SUGAR CEREAL?"

And there was Jo, following close on her heels. "Indoor voice, Amy. Indoor voice."

"SORRY!" Amy yelled less loudly. "BREAKFAST? PLEASE?"

Because manners were required.

"Sure, Sweetie," Jo replied, rubbing her fingertips across the bridge of her nose. "Just give me a minute."

The early rising must be from Mel's side of the family. That was the only explanation.

Late, late in the morning, Sokka trudged sleepily out into the common room, with an equally sleepy Mistake tired enough to consent to a ride on his shoulders. More or less.

"FASTER, Mr. Loserhead, faster!" the kid cried, between yawns. "'M hungry!"

And that would be Loo 2 in a blur as she goes to tackle hug her father. "DADDY!"

"Hey you," Mel said over her coffee cup. "Long night?"

"Awwwwww..." Sokka hugged her back, nearly causing Mistake to topple off.

"Yeah. Long. I have SO much appreciation for my parents right now, you don't even know."
