First place Jack went on his first morning back was the range, heading to the weapons locker to retrieve a gun. The 9mm felt right, given where he was, so that's what he grabbed, gathering spare clips and safey gear, before heading over to snag an alley.

He didn't make it, stopping dead when he saw who was already there. River.

It wasn't hard to sense someone else in an otherwise empty room, and this person felt familiar. River turned.

"Jack!"

She called out before remembering that this could be any other version of Jack, and more than likely it was, so she let her mind reach out to him, wanting to find out.

For one brief second, he hesitated, then training and current inclination kicked in and he started thinking hard about numbers, equations, vortex formulas, chronological insertion points for times he'd never visit, throwing up a babble of information between himself and her. "Hey, River."

He recognised her then, so no alternate version. But River frowned, trying to get past the information that shielded him from her like a cloud of useless information. All that noise pulled at her attention and distracted, and there was nothing of the invitation she'd been used to. She opened her mouth and all she could think of was: "Why?"

Jo dropped by the weapons range and picked out a rifle from the locker. She nodded to River. "Mornin'."

River returned the greeting with a nod and a tiny smile.

Jo smiled back, and glanced at River's weapon. "Nice piece."

"Gift from a friend," River said. "She used to run the shop. Jane Canary." She eyed the rifle. "What are you planning to shoot?"

His excitement over the sword Parker had given him -- and Bel's promise to teach him how to use it -- had reminded Anders that it had been a while since he'd made it down to the shooting range. It wouldn't do to get rusty at his shooting skills, even if, or maybe especially if, he was going to be taking a firearms workshop soon.

Freshly showered and caffeinated, he retrieved the Walther P99 and SIG-Sauer 226 that he favored from the locker, geared up, and ensconced himself in an alley.

Even if he didn't end up having to use these skills someday the way his dreams told him he might, they might come in handy somehow.

Lost in thought River put all her emotions into the shooting, paying little attention to the world around her. A quick glance was all that gave away that her mind har registered Anders's presence.

THE SHOOTING RANGE WAS OPEN!!!

Sokka bounced in with a gleeful look on his face that would probably soon be scaring Professor Winchester, and picked up a handgun.

He waved excitedly to everyone else and found a lane.
