River posted the safety rules for the first time.

SAFETY RULES:

· TREAT ALL GUNS AS IF THEY WERE LOADED

· KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO FIRE

· BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT’S BEYOND

· ALWAYS WEAR HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION

· NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BEFORE OR WHILE SHOOTING.

· CHECK IN ALL WEAPONS BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RANGE.

Jo dropped by the weapons range and picked out a rifle from the locker. She nodded to River. "Mornin'."

"Gift from a friend," River said. "She used to run the shop. Jane Canary." She eyed the rifle. "What are you planning to shoot?"

"Your friend has a good eye for guns," Jo said. "Back home it'd be unruly patrons, around here whatever decides to invade next."

"She did, yes." River nodded. "For that and for whiskey. And yes, invasions are recurring events."

"I'm better with short range than long," Jo shrugged. "So I figured I'd better hone up before something happens."

"Wise," River said, nodding. She wasn't in quite as cheerful a mood as she had been when she got here, but raised her gun and aimed at the target and fired., every shot a perfect hit.

She shook her head at herself, suddenly remembering to intruduce herself. "I'm River."

Jack grinned at her from his alley, dragging off his goggles and ear protection. "What, don't I rate a hello?" he asked. "It's a bad day when beautiful women ignore me completely."
