Second Floor Common Room, Sunday Evening

Feb 25, 2007 16:27

It was Oscars time, which meant, of course, it was time for a party, thrown together at the last minute because Zero had been in editing a lot recently. Peter wandered down to the common room. He was going to be heading home for a few days, so tonight would be good for spending time with his girlfriend during one of her favorite nights of the year.

Zero twisted on the couch, as she had already camped out in a prime viewing location. If the best of the snacks happened to be located on the coffee table in front of her, well, all the better. "Hi! It's shiny naked metal man night!"

"I really hope you're talking about the Oscars and not some person you hired to show up," Peter said, sitting down next to Zero.

"...No," Zero said. "No, although that is an idea for next year."

Sam came in, watching where she put her feet very carefully. It would be bad if she stepped on Jack while she wasn't paying attention. "Oh, hey."

"Oh, hi, Sam," Zero said. "What's the swoo?"

"My thing...er, Jack's turned into a mouse and I didn't want to step on him," Sam said, deciding not to ask about the swoo because it would just make her sound like her own grandmother. "What's going on?"

"Oscars party," Zero said. "Watch out that Jack doesn't get into the cheese plate, yeah?"

"Ooh, neat, party," Turtle said, glad to have found a nice distraction from being all woeful over a certain someone not being in a certain room next door to hers and it not being late enough in the week yet for the trip out to Savannah.

"S'Oscars night!" Zero said. "Hi, Turtle."

"Hey, Zero," Turtle waved a little as she grabbed some food and plopped onto the couch. Oscars could be fun.

"What's the swoo?" Zero asked.

Parker came back from the memorial service, and brightened when she saw what was on TV. "Hold me a space, I'll be back in a minute."

She rushed back in after changing out of her dark clothes, wearing her own Claude Shi from Homecoming and dark shoes. "Right, popcorn. Must have. And hey!" She handed over a zip drive to Zero. "Photos & short short films."

Zero took the zip drive and said magnanimously, "You may stay."

"Thank you so very much. Use those wisely." Parker grinned and curled up, popping open the top of her pop can. "So, are we rooting for anyone other than Mr.-Noinated-19-Times?"

Zero shrugged. "Not Beyonce. Oh, and Buccaneers of a Place Not Unlike the Caribbean."

After dropping Jack with Sam, Isabel found a spot on the couch and prepared to mock tacky dresses.

Parker waved, and offered popcorn. "Munchies? While we trash hairstyles and make-up choices?"

"Do I have to eat it or can I toss it at the TV?" she grinned.

"Either," Parker said equably, then grinned. "Right now, we're just mocking the clothes, instead of the nominees. And telling the talking heads to shut up."
