It was Oscars time, which meant, of course, it was time for a party, thrown together at the last minute because Zero had been in editing a lot recently. She had set out an array of handwavey bite-size tasty appetizers, big bowls of popcorn, and an assortment of sodas, water, and sparkling juices

Peter wandered down to the common room. He was going to be heading home for a few days, so tonight would be good for spending time with his girlfriend during one of her favorite nights of the year.

"Hello there," he said.

Zero twisted on the couch, as she had already camped out in a prime viewing location. If the best of the snacks happened to be located on the coffee table in front of her, well, all the better. "Hi! It's shiny naked metal man night!"

"I really hope you're talking about the Oscars and not some person you hired to show up," Peter said, sitting down next to Zero.

[swerval_zero]

"...No," Zero said. "No, although that is an idea for next year."

[peter__parker]

"I just had to give you ideas," Peter said.

[swerval_zero]

Zero reached over to pat his arm. "You're helpful like that, hooskspider."

[peter__parker]

"I have another suggestion," Peter said. "Pass the chips. Please?"

Zero leaned over, grabbed the chips, and magnanimously handed them to Peter. "This is the boring part, when the reporter people only have each other to talk to."

[peter__parker]

"They should talk to the reporters for other channels and criticize their clothes," Peter said. "Make it a reporter battle."

[swerval_zero]

"When I run the Oscars," Zero said, "that is what they will do." She grabbed a triscuit with a slice of cheese and half a cherry tomato on it and popped it in he mouth.

[peter__parker]

"You're planning on running the Oscars?" Peter asked. "Working your way up to it or staging a coup?"

[swerval_zero]

"Coup, definitely." Zero glanced at him. "Is that going to cause a problem for you, bein' a superhero an' all? 'Cause I could do it the legit way, it would just take, y'know, time."

[peter__parker]

"I'm only a superhero in New York. And Virginia. And Brazil," Peter said. "Coups in California aren't my concern."

[swerval_zero]

"Oh, good, then," Zero said. "My coup can continue unimpeded."

[peter__parker]

"That'll be the best Oscar show ever," Peter said. "When's this happening, two years?"

[swerval_zero]

"I was thinkin' I'd wait until I graduated from film school," Zero said. "So I have the credentials to back it up."
