IMPORTANT: Fandom High Handbook

Jan 01, 2006 21:27

Here you will find detailed the new set of rules and guidelines for Fandom High. Note that for the most part this is simply revisions and clarification of the old set of rules. There is only one new rule in the entire bunch, and that itself is only an establishment of an IC rule. Please take the time to read through the document at your soonest ( Read more... )

Clarification:

Also? Principal Smith sees all.

Does that mean in private dorm rooms as well?

Smith is generally "aware". But he does not invade privacy, nor will he act on anything unless I clear it with the characters involved, or they request that he acts upon it. Private dorms are still considered private.

It's like the situation with Bristow. He may see, but that doesn't mean he cares.

Okay, thanks -- let me harass you with more. ;)

"Students must also be involved in either an extra-curricular activity (eg. a club) or have a part-time job." Does being a TA count?

"You are not permitted to do anything for that character (including finishing slow-play threads) but play out the detention thread until the faculty member in charge of detention dismisses you." Why, when slowplay may have started the previous night, and you are causing the very problem you are complaining about regarding slowplay? That doesn't make sense to me. I know detention is supposed to be a punishment, but by disallowing slowplay that started previously, it keeps people who are not in detention waiting on you ( ... )

TAing will count.

Detention: Good point. There will be admin discussion about this ASAP. But, for the most part, slowplaying other threads will be somewhat discouraged as the expectation will be that the player focuses on the interaction of detention.

Deleting journals: We will allow people to plead their case in such circumstances, absolutely.

Plots: It's really a judgement call. If you feel like it could force some major reactions out of characters, it would be best to get it okayed. But mere interpersonal issues that result in personality conflicts would not require such approval.

Weapons: Weapons are not allowed on campus outside of the firing range or fencing salle.
Alanna was an exception to this rule. Will this hold in the new administartion and does she have to go talk to Agent/Principal Smith about it?

Your exception to the rule, as dictated by character neccessity, is still honored. Good to go.

Thanks. However, being waaaay too uptight, Alanna will stop by to talk to the Principal once term begins. Because she is Alanna and she's odd like that.

Student/Faculty Relationships: IC there is a "no frakking way" policy. OOC, we're not banning them, but they have to happen in secret or there will be IC consequences.

Does Rover count as Faculty? OMG SAY NO THE ANNNNNGST OF FORBIDDEN LOVE.

I mean, secret relationships work for me, as long as there are no ashtrays involved, and I'll have my girl still hit on anyone that, you know, moves and is male if she's bored interested. But to be serious, I believe before there was no such policy before, and while I totally dig, I'm just wondering if I need to come up with a Romeo and Juliet type subplot with a giant ball of doom.

Because I will. But... oh man, you know what I'm saying.

ICly, We'd probably let the big white ball do whatever he likes.

OOCly... that plot idea is so awesome and I would love you forever.

Just a little question about the clinic...

I had talked to previous admin, about clinic privacy.

We determined that the waiting area, office, and lab are available for broadcast. All exam rooms, counselling rooms and surgery are strictly private. There is no surveliance, no hidden cameras or microphones for the issue of confdentiality.

I just want to know if this holds true when the new term begins? Or do we need to reevaluate?

Still stands. *thumbs up*

Big thumbs up to the simplification/clarification of the existing rules! (And, though I haven't managed to get detention yet, I'm with Bel on the finishing slowplay issue. I can see the logic of wanting people to concentrate on RP-ing detention, especially as that's been blown off a lot in the past, but tying off dangling plots from earlier chronology can only be a bonus for the game, I think.)

The detention section was one of the things that was copy/pasted and then just cut down to size. We'll review that policy and have it fixed up ASAP once we decide on the particulars.

That reminds me, I should probably shoot you guys an e-mail about how I'm thinking of maintaining the detentions just to make sure it's good by you.

I'll get on that tonight.
