There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could work on their tan while they ate, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool and non-crispy

"It's okay!" Alluka said earnestly, not sure what to make of the swooning, except that it made her giggle. "You can like all of them!"

Making her giggle was precisely what the swoon was for.

"Oh good," Pinkie said, recovering instantly. "Which one would you like to try?"

"That's the spirit!" Pinkie picked up a pink cupcake and held it out for Alluka. "Try these first. I made them myself!"

She'd made most of the cupcakes on the table. Because she'd eaten most of the cupcakes that had been there when she got here.

"Ooooh!" Alluka took the cupcake. "It looks delicious!"

There were all sorts of usable hours in a day when you were an excitable pink pony.

"Thank you! Baking is loads more fun when you know it'll make somepony smile."

"I don't know how to bake," she admitted, biting into her cupcake. Alluka hummed and pretended she had to think about how it tasted before announcing, "It's amazing! Is it hard to learn?"

"It's not hard at all!" Pinkie said. "You just have to be good at following directions, like recipes. I could show you sometime, if you like!"

Because, definitely, Alluka needed to know how to feed her own sweet tooth.

"Are there lots of instructions? Can you make up your own?"

"Sometimes! But it's better to start with something nice and simple, like cupcakes, and follow real close until you really get to know what all the steps are for."

"Like with skating?" she suggested. "Ringo makes me learn all the basics before I get to try anything like what she can do."

"I'm not very good at anything I've started learning," she admitted, laughing at herself. "But maybe I'll find something, right?"

"Maybe! And lots of things take practice. That's when you're not very good at something the first time you do it but then you do it over and over and then you get very good at it!"
