Gabrielle helped herself to a muffin and drink and settled in to listen to the lecture; she had no idea how much of this would come in handy in her future -- Jappa was a long, long way away from Greece after all -- but the concepts were intriguing, and the idea of honor . . .

It appealed to the idealist in her as well as the storyteller. Someone was listening pretty raptly.
