I would like to set a goal or deadline for the first two charities. I am thinking September 1st or sometime in early September so we can make the donation before Season 3 starts. What do you think?
That sounds perfect.
A focus on families, children, and people in need, a major theme in Supernatural, resonated with fans. Is there a way to reword this sentence just a pinch? Either:
"A focus on families, children, and people in need - a major theme in Supernatural - resonated with fans."
Or
"A focus on families, children, and people in need, (a major theme in Supernatural) resonated with fans."
All the commas were just sort of awkward. The rest is great though.
I will pimp when you get it the site set to go. I'll also volunteer to come up with some designs for the Cafe Press store.
What besides apparel do you think we should offer?
postcards, postage, notecards, journals... it's a way to pimp the campaign and support it at the same time. I would SOOO use the postcards to email the CW *AND* to use for SPN_Postcards. I mean, think about it... they would catch attention!
The fandom rocks icon I made quick and dirty so the community had a default icon, so feel free to snag it from the comm profile. If people use it elsewhere, it will peak interest. =)
I think those other items sound great. I was hoping for a few more design ideas to pop up so they aren't all the same. Thoughts on what would go well on a postcard, journal? Maybe just Fandom Rocks and the URL. It's different enough to grab someone's attention. Maybe someone could vectorize John's journal to use on writing-related items. That'd be cool.
I think the design from the fandom rocks banner (Dean's shadow) would also be good.
What about the Devil's Trap for bumper stickers? (I've been wanting a DT for my car since that ep aired.)
Some stickers or magnets that play off the "do it" jokes... "Supernatural fans do it in salt circles," etc.
Also... oohhh... what if we could get find someone who knows someone who knows.... you know what I mean... who could get some of the shirts signed by the cast/Krip/etc for auction?
When I was at the Whedonverse convention 2 years ago, I saw a OMWF script signed by the whole cast (including Joss, which is HARD to get) go for over $8,000.
I know Jared signed some teddy bears for a charity auction before, so I think if we could get someone to present the idea to them, we have a good chance of getting something. (Bonus if we can get pics of them WITH or WEARING the shirts.)
I am going to try to get to the journal design tonight. What do you think of this for the postcards? Should all of the products have the URL and the "SPN fandom campaigns for charity" tag line you think?

As soon as you have designs, feel free to post them to the community or over in the site's forum - or both, lol.
I went ahead and created a basic store at Cafe Press: http://www.cafepress.com/fandomrocks
Thanks!

Also, the shelter works every day.
I like the idea. I also have some friends close to Lawrence that may be able to help out if you need a person there.

I wanted to change 'everyday' but spellcheck told me it was okay. Darn spellcheck.
People close to Lawrence would be awesome. I was thinking that may be a roadtrip or having people there would come in handy sooner or later.

BTW, where do I steal your fandom rocks icon? ;)
