I haven't updated here in forever, but I have been following the new Who episodes. I haven't reacted to most of them, because I wanted to see where things were going, and to do so without being influenced by fandom. Just, you know, watching the thing. Well, end of the season ( Read more... )

*hugs and love*

I am overall very pleased. Because I am delighted in where we landed. Not the wedding itself but the Doctor reaffirmed that he is loved by the people *in* his life and the people he has helped all over the universe. And then, knowing this, he says he has to step back and be mindful of his impact on the sweep of history.

I'm really glad you're happy and I do like the perspective.

I just... have never, ever been able to tolerate romance in my Who. Like it is The Deal-Breaker for me, and this was just beyond my ability to ignore or rationalize enough to see the rest.

But, like I said, I'm glad you're delighted.

Oh, I get it. And really hope that didn't come off as U R Wrong?

It didn't read that way to me? I'm just. Um. Full of flail and emo. *sticks self in time out* (And I'm sorry. I REALLY don't want to squish anyone's squee)

Sometimes. with Who, my ten-year-old-self who first fell for the series, feels like the kid in The Princess Bride (the book, not the film - which I can't stand), "Will there be kissing? Ugh."

But I like Eleven - he's a return to the 'adventure over romance' (mostly), which is a relief after Ten who seemed entirely preoccupied with kissing.

Well, hi there~

I'm pleased with this season of Doctor Who, and mostly everything that happened in it. Overall, I enjoyed this season a lot more than Season 5. Finale wasn't as epic as some have been (in my mind, anyway), but that's fine with me.

Torchwood, on the other hand...I haven't actually gotten around to watching the rest of it. Might, eventually. What the hell did you do to the show, writers?

Off topic, but ave you been keeping up with Criminal Minds?

Hiya! *waves* For me Torchwood is the more "invested" program and going as a "single-issue" voter, I got what I wanted vis-a-vis the Jack I love and believe in, and I can wave off pretty much everything else, including the big squicks.

For Who, I've just been surfing the wave, with basically NO IDEA what was going on at any timey-wimey point in the proceedings. I think the fact that everybody just seemed to be having so much fun was the key element for me. The one irk that I can quite get by is the resolution of the The Girl Who Waited, because it does seem inherently agist, especially about a woman and that plays to Moff's worst tendencies.
