Damn it now I'm going to be sitting around thinking about TV shows there a main couple either is together the entire run, or gets together and stays together. I'm going to go ahead and eliminate sit-coms from the list.
I honestly sat down to try to think if I was just being over-generalizing about that point and. Sit-coms aside, I can't think of ANY pairing between *previously established main characters* got together and stayed together.
Yeah. I did the same thing and came up blank. There's already married/together couples who stay together, sometimes. But if part of the plot of the show is two people getting together, it never seems to stick.
Will they/won't they is easy dramatic tension. God forbid we deal with two people coming together and then making it work on a daily basis. That would just be boring. *eyeroll*
I skipped House in favor of Chuck. It makes me sad that this was such an easy choice. Did you see the promo photo with them all on the bed? Everyone is looking at the camera except for Cuddy, who is gazing lovingly at House. BLECH!
I didn't but now I'm kind of glad I didn't. I just. Just. I don't know who that woman is, but it isn't Cuddy. And the man who's going to do horrible things to her is one she WANTS in her kid's life? The one who doesn't even LIKE kids (but was willing to take said kid on a romantic get away with them? (whut))? Seriously? What are the writers SMOKING?
In a way, the House/Cuddy relationship is as (or even more) fucked up than House/Wilson and could be done in an interesting way IF Shore et al weren't so desperately trying to white-wash the both. When THIS House and Cuddy talk about how screwed up House is, I don't believe for a minute that either of them really thinks it's the truth.
It's an equal character assassination to trying to convince me that Wilson's first marriage broke up because he was anal about the milk in the refrigerator.
These characters were wonderful BECAUSE of their flaws. Denying the flaws is destroying the characters. GRRRRRRRR!!!!
