WHO: Frank Parker
WHERE: Just outside of camp
WHEN: Day 37, Dawn
INVITED: Anyone curious
STATUS: complete
Everyone may have thought the morning would be quiet after several of the explosions of the night before, but nothing is ever truly quiet here. This morning is no different. Just when the birds and bees are contemplating waking there is a bright

But a light caught his eye and soon he was sprinting towards the module that had crashed in the trees just beyond the camp.
In his hand he held the contracted pole, not ready to use it as a weapon yet, but ready to be triggered if it was needed.
It wasn't the first time his plans had been scuppered when something unexpected happened and it was obvious to him that there were others equally as on the ball as he, as they arrived in the clearing together...
(and tags to whoever else decides to investigate!)

It took the scientist a couple of ungraceful moments in order to get dressed, and he emerged, looking a great deal less... together than Marcus. (He didn't even have his pistol!) He ran a hand over rapidly becoming shaggy hair, and mumbled before looking to the skies.
"The HELL?"

Still rubbing sleep from his eyes, Sam quickly caught up with Marcus, McKay, and the others who'd gathered near the huge metal sphere.
"The HELL?" the Canadian exclaimed.
"Precisely," Sam agreed. He kept his eyes on what looked like a hatch on the sphere's surface. If someone or something were inside, it might emerge there. Sam held his pistol in both hands, but aimed safely at the ground for now.
The ocean breeze picked up, raising gooseflesh* on his arms at legs. Only then did Sam realize that he'd stumbled out of his shelter wearing nothing more than a vest** and boxer shorts. (Bugger.)
* Isn't that the British term for goosebumps?
** The British term for a sleeveless undershirt, i.e. wife-beater.

Susan and early morning were not on good terms, ever. Civil, sure, but always with an underlying tone of hostility and resentment. Granted, on a space station, it was always dark, so she didn't have the benefit of a sunrise, but the fact remained that it was morning. And it always came too soon ( ... )

It was then that he heard the cracking of branches and the distant boom of something very large and very heavy crashing very suddenly to the earth. He scrambled up, reaching for his pulse pistol and his discarded t-shirt in the same motion. He'd taken to sleeping in swimming trunks. Why not? It was an island after all ( ... )

"Actually," Sam said, "not all of the obvious questions have been asked. I presume you've never seen such a thing?" John shook his head. "How about you, Dr. McKay?"

Slowly, however, when it didn't happen, the scientist slowly lowered his hands with a surprised sounding, 'Huhn...'. He was still alive; always good.
Blue eyes stared at the sphere again, his head canting to the side, his expression thoughtful before he shook his head. "Nope. Never. Whatever it is, though, got caught in the EMP field." Which, of course, meant that the chances were good that the temporal distortion field was back in place, happily humming away. He'd have to look at the star pattern tonight, with or without Chloe. She smiled at the embarrassment, and nodded at the response. "That," Sam chuckled, "is an excellent question. I've no idea.""Right..." She looked to John, then, and to the now identified Dr. McKay. There's a bonus... a doctor who obviously wasn't a medical doctor. The knock on the side garnered a wince from the commander, her shoulders rising. She, too, didn't think that the best idea, but hey? Who was she ( ... )

It didn't take May long to get back to camp, and she headed straight for the infirmary. Unfortunately, at first glance there didn't seem to be any activity inside. "Hello? Anyone on duty in here?"

Stephen jogged back over to the sphere and looked at it, "Okay, so it's a big blue sphere. That's new." He glanced over at Susan now, "Did you order a boom for today?"

Frank ended up flat on his back, one hand coming up to push off the helmet and reveal a slightly battered and bloody face, "Nice landing Frank. That one will definitely go down in the history books... best ever. Oh yeah."
Frank ignored the pain in his body to look around, taking in more of the surroundings then the actual people at the moment, "Hell, this doesn't look like Australia." Frank closed his eyes a moment, keeping them closed as he asked the most important question, "I'm the only one who came out right?"

Marcus, for the most part, was keeping a keen eye on the proceedings. His own expression didn't lend much to knowing what was going on behind his eyes, though as the lone occupant began his litany of complaint? Curses? Inquiry? He closed the pike, a soft *ffft* in the air, and palmed it to put it back into his pocket. He answered, the crisp English accent filling the air, "So far, yes?"

"That would take an enormous amount of power..."
Susan looked at the Doctor and nodded, looking to the sphere again. "Could it have made it's own jump point-- wormhole?" It seemed awfully small to be able to do it, and, like the scientists, knew that it took a whole lot of power. Something small vessels tended not to have. At least, not in her experience. "It's too small."John looked from Rodney to Susan and back to the sphere. "It could have made its own jump point ... I did, and my original shuttle wasn't much bigger than this one." He looked over at Rodney again, "Don't even ask me how, my entire memory on it has been wiped clean. Part of a deal with the devil I made a long time ago. I just know that ... I did it and it was successful and what the hell are you doing here?" He directed the last to Aeryn who had come up beside him. The last thing he wanted was for his pregnant wife to be ( ... )

It wasn't a second after before it was replaced by an 'Ow!'. He wasn't hurt; not really. Just... well... surprised, shocked, and as he rose to his feet, dusted himself off.
John's gun was out, and, honestly, he was feeling a little safer there... and so, he moved such that he was out of the way. Blaise had his, as well... as did one of the 'new guys', but that was gone, though he was sure that it'd take little for it to reappear.

Neither as daft as he sometimes played, nor stupid, having been a soldier as much as those with guns in hand, there was always the keep your friends close enemies closer thing to go by. Besides, he'd faced the barrel of more guns than anyone could count, and it wasn't a fun feeling.
He faced Frank then. "No, this is not Australia. Yes, you did fall out all by yourself. No, this isn't a new reality show. And yes, those really are laser guns. I'm the Doctor, by the way."

John looked over at the Doctor and raised a brow, slowly lowering his weapon when it was apparent the man meant them all no harm. "Hey, just because you're jealous of my weapon doesn't mean you have to go throwing insults at it," he said, the hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Old habits die hard, DocTen," he replied, shoving Winona back into his holster. "When sudden things tumble from other unknown things, I have a tendency to draw first, ask questions during and shoot if necessary"
He folded his arms in front of his chest and looked down at the man sitting in a heap.
"Nope, not expecting anyone. Just the last time the ride was that rough there were two of me, and one of me is more then enough."
"And a partridge in a pear tree," John quipped, "sounds like you're going to fit right in here."

Frank paused and stared at Blaise for a moment as the man told him the date. He seemed confused as he did some mental calculations in his head. Once he was done he calmly rose to his feet without any assistance, ignoring everyone around him, "Excuse me a moment."
It was then that Frank turned and began kicking the sphere, his voice higher and more nasally as he imitated someone, possibly female, "We made a few modifications Frank. It should make the ride smoother Frank. This should be a piece of cake Frank, a walk in the park." Another good solid kick is delivered to the side of the sphere before Frank leans forward and rests his head against the sphere, arms dangling at his side. Obviously the date he was give was not the one that he expected.

"Not that it's much consolation, but you're not the first to wind up here when you didn't expect it. Sometimes, quite literally when you didn't expect it." Daniel's eyes cut to several of those gathered around at the last sentence. He pushed his sunglasses up on his nose, "I'm Daniel Jackson, and this is . . . The Island."
"Mindfuck Island," Faith supplied. "Which makes a lot more sense once you're here a while -"
"And you will be here a while," someone muttered in the background.
"And yeah, I'm a natural woman today." Faith finished up, hands on her hips, body positioned so that her breasts pushed up against the already tight t-shirt.
Despite Faith's distracting "attributes," Daniel noted that she didn't confirm Rodney's identity yet. No one did, which said something for thier personal paranoia levels.

Stepping forward briefly, she helped the scientist back onto his feet, brushed him off, and had the sudden urge to push him back into the fray, but resisted. Stepping back, she re-crossed her arms before her, more than happy to let this play before her. She was learning a good bit about the personalities, her brows rising at some of the comments, complete with a glance around the immediately gathered men to see their reactions.
