They look like big, good, strong hands, don't they? I always thought that's what they were...

First off, after having watched the whole of season 2 of Boomtown (all six episodes, yessir), it's official, it sucks. I don't know what happened, maybe the network was putting the pressure on them because they didn't have a good enough audience and so they had to make it less original, but hell. Suddenly it became... just like any other show. They ( Read more... )

films, boomtown

I haven't seen it, either. Nor have I seen Labrinth.

Deprived! They're to of my childhood staples, weekend viewing on regular basis. Loved them both.

Heh. When I was a kid, my brother was so sick we always just watched what he wanted, which was a movie he'd fixate on for a week (in the form of watching it, rewinding, watching, rewinding) before moving on to another.

Movies I've still got memorized, thanks to this:

Saturday the 14th
Young Frankenstein
Love at First Bite
Jason and the Argonauts
Clash of the Titans
All Rocky movies
All Eddie Murphy movies prior to 1987
All Star Trek movies prior to 1987

And likely piles of others I can't recall the titles of at the moment.

Really? See, that's such a shame. Well, I hadn't seen Labyrinth until last year, it really didn't make it in France, but I don't think it would have had as much of an impact on me anyway. Labyrinth is more like The Goonies. A really fun movie you love when you're a kid.

But the Neverending Story? When you're a child, it's just... it's about imagination, and hope, and wishes, and not giving up. It's probably the first fantasy I encountered and loved. It's so much. It brings you so much.

Of course, watching it now I realise all of its flaws and stuff, but the script itself? Brilliant.

That said, Joey has never seen The NeverEnding Story. Is it just me, or should no child be allowed to grow up without having seen the NeverEnding Story?

To me you rather have to *read* it. Seeing it is optional.
Actually, I don't have much memories left from the movie, whereas so many of the images generated by the book are still there.

Well, for those of us who haven't read it, trust me, the movie remains. I remembered it so well, compared to other films I loved when I was a kid, like the Goonies or Bugsy Malone, but those didn't stick half as well.

That said, earlier I was entertaining the idea of reading the book... it's German innit? I should actually try and read it in German... with a dictionary by my side. Joss help me.

Yeah, I can understand it remains. The Goonies remained more, for me. But then, I didn't read any Goonies book. ;-)
And some of the stuff I liked the best in the Neverending Story story didn't seem to have made it to the film.

Yeah, it's German. Good luck with reading it in VO. ;-)

Oh, and I remember being horrified by Atreyu's lack of greenness. ;-)

I agree- a very worthy movie. I just rewatched some of it when I capped it for some custom icons and I got all sniffly.

Oh, love your icon! Sylvia's a wonderful character.

Tell me about it. I don't think I've ever watched that movie without shedding a tear over Artax's death (including this very morning). I'm looking forward to seeing those icons!

I always loved that movie. It holds a lot of magic. Both my kiddos have seen it.

Favorite quote? "To the winch, wench!"

I discovered it this morning! It was my first time seeing it in English. That line was a good surprise! I don't remember how they'd translated it in French, but it hadn't struck me, so it probably wasn't as good.
