Post Nuvaring spotting

Dec 02, 2008 06:49

Nuvaring has totally been killing my libido and I am tired of it. I am almost done with grad school and in a long term relationship so even though I do not want to get pregnant now, I am ok with the slightly lower effective rate of FAM. This is my first month off of Nuvaring ( Read more... )

1) Don't start a new chart until your first day of red blood flow. Just mark the spotting. I am on cycle #4 off the patch, and even though I am ovulating and everything, I have about five days of spotting before my period. Though this month I am trialing progesterone cream, so hopefully that will do it.

2) It's hard to say for sure because everyone is different, but if your other fertility signs corroborate your temp shift, I would consider it reliable. Then again I don't know much about FAM for TTA (I am TTC), and I know that mistakes are a bigger deal with TTA.

Good luck!

Thanks, I think the method is basically the same for TTA and TTC, but sex is timed differently... :~)

Oh yeah, I guess I meant that since I'm TTC, I don't know the rules as well/as strictly as someone who is TTA.

It can take months to get back to a normal cycle. Even though you have stopped taking BC the toxins/medicine is still in your body. I was on BC pills and they totally killed my libido too. I didn't know the BC was the cause until I talked to my doctor. There are a lot of side effects that only occur in some women so they don't mention them until it happens to you. My doctor was 100% for charting.

I got off BC in March and my doctor told me to start charting when I had my first REAL period. That would be my advice. It doesn't hurt to continue charting now to keep in the habit, but day one should be the start of a "real" period or a new cycle.

I used fertilityfriend.com for my charting. I chart on paper then input the data and let it do the work for me. It is best to not only take you tempeture but also monitor your cervical fluids and any cramping.

It's either mymonthlycycles.com or fertilityfriend.com offers to send you e-mails to teach you about charting. They are very helpful.

Hope this helps. Happy Charting!

I haven't had much CF yet, but I am checking. Hopefully my body will sort itself out soon. I used to have fairly regular periods, so hopefully I will go back to those.

I signed up for fertility friend. It seems interesting, but I will still paper chart and then transfer. It decided I ovulated on day 15, so despite my wacky spotting and lack of CM, it thinks I am "normal." :~)
Thanks!

You and I are pretty much in the same boat. My last period started November 10th, and this is my first cycle off the BCP.

It has been pretty difficult for me to do the temps consistently. I have remembered to do them every day, it's just that the timing isn't good. Some mornings I get up at 9:30, and some mornings 6:30. So, I haven't been able to detect ovulation yet. But then again, I may not even ovulate this cycle!

My biggest concern right now is not being able to predict my period yet. :(

TCOYF is a great book. I'm about halfway through it now. It's HUGE. But very helpful.

I have an alarm set for the time I wake up on my early days that I leave on all the time. I temp and then go back to sleep if I can.

Its not that I don't get up at the same time, because I do. But the fact I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night at different times.

my husband gets up the same time everyday, when he gets up I take my temp. On the weekends I do sleep in, but I take it whenever I get wake up. I never seem to have any major problems.

Just FYI, I was on the NuvaRing for 4 months and then stopped and started charting. It took my cycle 6 months to get back to normal after that. Be prepared that it might be awhile before anything looks regular!

Thanks for the heads up. Since I am not TTC at the moment or in the next 6 months, I am ok that it might take a while to balance out.
