Generally after 18 days of high temps in the LP you're pregnant.
Is your chart online? Can we look at it?

sorry, chart isn't online. it's verrrrry standard, though. high 96 temps and then a sky-rocket on day 15 up to 97.5s and 97.6s . . . then up to 97.9s.

day 18 after i took my temp i grabbed my book & went & searched it to see if i was remembering correctly -- i was thinking 18 days was the "sign".

Billings Method says anything more than 16 days indicates pregnancy... so 18 days would be pretty certain. =)

I'd love to see your chart if it's online! :)

But. It sounds like you're pregnant, and honestly... do you really need the test to tell you? Triphasic temps alone wouldn't be 100%, but paired with that luteal phase? There's not really anything else it could be unless you were seriously ill, I think. It sounds like you know you are, anyway. :)

sorry, it's not online. i'll tel you what i just told blognotfound:

Oh, I know what you mean. And although my physical symptoms (including a longer than expected LP) were very clear so I knew without a test, and I'd peed on a stick anyway to double-check, I still had relatives hassling me to have a blood test with my doctor to 'confirm' it.

I was like, I'm not stupid. I can tell I'm pregnant. It's pretty obvious from my perspective...

i agree with everyone else, that sustained high temps, especially with a triphasic shift, would seem to confirm pregnancy. i wouldn't waste the money on a home test, since a doctor will want to confirm it anyhow. just make a doctor's appointment.

the only catch i can think of, other than what others have mentioned, is can you think of any reason other than ovulation that your temp might have gone up the first time? like a fever, or starting to use an electric blanket?

if you do find out that you are definitely pregnant, can i ask you a favor? for me, and for anyone else who is using FAM to avoid, i'm curious where FAM failed for you. did you think it was a dry day, but it wasn't? did you ovulate so early that you thought you were still safe? or did a condom fail? if you don't know, or don't want to talk about it, i understand, but i'm interested to know where the holes in FAM occur in normal use, not just the textbook theories.

no doubt -- after posting in my personal journal i have had several ladies say they were considering FAM but now they're scared! and i hate that because i still totally trust FAM ( ... )

Were you on hbc before you started charting? I'm curious because I am currently charting my fourth cycle after being on HBC for about 6 years, and each cycle is increasingly longer--24, 26, and then 27 days. I've heard that it can take between 3-6 months for your cycle to regulate itself again, though. I've also heard that something like 20% of women using FAM get pregnant within the first year, and this rate decreases in sebsequant years. This IS sort of a 'rumor' that I don't have a source for though ...

Please, anyone correct me if that's not accurate. There's a lot I'm still learning, and I'm so curious!

i was on on & off HBC for a couple years -- a couple years ago. meaning -- i stopped taking HBC a couple years ago.

in nov of last year i got a depo provera shot as a prelim for having my tubes tied. then, before the sterilization procedure, my husband and i decided "let's wait!" so the depo lasted 3 months -- nov, dec and jan.

so i haven't had any hbc in my body since the depo wore off (roughly 10 months between end of depo and conception), and before that it had been a few years.
