Can I say a big fuck you to the people who I thought were really friends, but turned out not to be.? Can I say a big fuck you to quitters, to the people who pretended to care and then bailed at the first sign of trouble or weakness? You'll get past it. Friendships die, it's sad, it's common, it's true. The majority of my friendships have seldom lasted longer than 4 years, if I was lucky enough to hold it for even that long. But... military life does that, everyone's always moving. More often than not, people don't put the effort up to write to one another. It's nothing personal, it's just not a big deal once it's done. When you get hurt... your reaction says a lot about you. You can wince and say, "God, that sucks. Cool that we had what we had, sorry it turned out this way, later." orrrrrrrrrrr you could do the "FUCK YOU I WOULD DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU SNRRRGH!! HULK SMASH YOU ARE BYE FOREVER!" This reaction leaves little to no room for any reconciliation. They're guilty of initiating the closure, you're guilty of finalizing it. I think you're definitely leaning more towards the second one ( ... )
