Hera glared at her reflection in the sheen of the kitchen cabinet, fingers buckling in anger against the countertop as she tried to convince herself that killing Zeus would be a bad idea. But he was really trying her patience. When this had all started, she had been in shock and metaphorically jumped at the chance to prove her necessity (she had reached the point where she was actually grateful he'd been injured). But now she wanted to go drag her son in here and lecture him for not just snapping the bastard's neck. He wasn't treating her like a respectful wife; he was treating her like a slave.

But no, no. This was Zeus she was talking about! Her lord and husband, and hadn't she once been proud to almost worship him? Maybe, she thought bitterly, snatching the pills from the medicine cabinet (a very strange function), when there was something about him worth admiring. She was beginning to seriously wonder if that had ever been so ( ... )

With some difficulty, Zeus sat up and accepted the water. Her irritability was not hard to notice, between the pills being slammed onto the table and her expression. From the bottle he took two pills like she had instructed (as if he didn't already know that) and swallowed them. At least the pain medication would leave him in a blissful stupor, not even Hera's sour attitude could bring him down.

Certainly she was angry with him, but for what good reason? Anyone else would have jumped at the chance to nurse the injured King of the Gods, and Hera, it was her duty has his wife. Zeus looked up at her with narrowed eyes, and despite his weakened state spoke in a firm, commanding tone. “Next time I ask for something, do not come to me with your foul attitude. Instead do what I tell you without question or complaint. Know that if this behavior continues, Hera, you can be easily replaced by a full time nurse.” He assumed it went without saying that this nurse would be hand selected-only the youngest, most beautiful woman would satisfy
