Persephone had hemmed and hawed over this decision. On the one hand, parties were fun! And flowers were fun! And she was a big girl who could do what she wanted now! She was just starting to realize this fact and revel in it very much. She'd never had this much freedom before, and it was somewhat exhilirating. Well...it was after she got over the whole fear of trying to figure out what to do with herself. That fear was still there, it probably always would be. She'd never had to take care of herself before. Her life had always been carefully dictated by her mother.

But she was off of mama's knee now, and she could do anything! And so she had decided she was going to Dionysus's party, and that Zeus could just deal with it. She was quite proud of herself too, and it showed in her expression and the way she walked. Her smug expression radiated the pride she felt in actually making a decision for herself. Her walk was a strut, her eyes twinkled with the knowledge of doing something she wasn't supposed toShe felt as good as if she'd eaten ( ... )

Dionysus loved being able to mingle with people of different social rankings at parties. It let him slip into different roles and he could become whoever they wanted him to be. It made it much easier for them to trust him if they saw him as 'one of their own' and that had been very helpful in some of his schemes ( ... )

Persephone smugly shook her head. "He's not the boss of me," she replied, and her immaturity undermined the adult image she was portraying. She, however, was still quite proud of herself for pulling this off.

"You invited me, and I didn't ask permission. So I don't have to do what he says." She pouted at him and attempted to frown at the same time.

"Aren't you happy to see me?"

"Of course I am, darling. You look marvelous."

And she did and he was sure that some of his other guests would notice this. At his parties he wanted everyone to have a good time and have as much freedom as he could offer them but he wanted to have future parties. If something happened to Perse, he knew his father would have his head on a platter. Probably Hades too.

"Say, would you like to play a game of make believe? It will be a lot of fun."

Athena still wasn't sure this was the best idea ( ... )

Persephone had no idea what was going through Dionysus' mind, or that their dancing had any sort of purpose behind it. To her, it was all fun, and so when she found herself in front of Athean, she grinned at her.

"Hi, Athena! Guess what? Dionysus has made me a princess! Isn't that fun?"

She wrinkled her nose when she noticed Athena was wearing pants. "How can you wear those? I don't like pants, they're uncomfortable. That's why I bought only dresses. They are much easier to move in!"

She smoothed the skirt on her dress and admired the pretty pattern, something she'd done many times since buying the dress and then pursed her lips.

"Do you know if dad is coming?" It was one thing to flaunt independence you weren't supposed to have when the parents weren't around, it was another thing entirely to flaunt it when they were.

It took Athena a moment to place the identity of the girl dancing about in front of her abruptly. Perhaps because she seemed so much more carefree than Athena remembered her. Of course, timelines in this place being what they were...

She offered a conciliatory smile to Persephone.

"Did he now?" she mused, wondering where in this madhouse Dionysus had gotten to, running off and leaving Persephone there. Where had all these people come from? Surely they couldn't all be his close personal friends. But of course, this was Dion...

"You look lovely, Persephone. And not everyone wears dresses all the time here. Just trying to fit in," she explained.

"As for Father... I don't believe he's coming, but he may be. I didn't speak to him about it. He's been preoccupied of late, so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't make an appearance."

Athena gave the young girl a rather stern look. "You aren't planning on staying for the...afterparty, are you?"

She made a face at the thought of wearing pants, even to fit in she didn't think she could do it. She tried one pair on and it felt...unnatural. She missed the feeling of the air on her legs.

"Pants are so ugly though. You're not ugly though," she added the last phrase as an after thought. Thena would never be ugly, even if she wore pants. But she'd never make the pants themselves look pretty. "Dresses are much nicer."

She relaxed somewhat when Athena mentioned she didn't think Zeus would be coming. "Good. I don't want him to come. He told me I couldn't come to the party, but he's not the boss of me. I don't have to listen to him if I don't want to!"

When Athena gave her that stern look, she wanted to pout. So many people gave her that look, it wasn't fair! She debated acting like she was going to stay, but not even rebellion could prompt her to act like she'd want to hang around and get naked.

"No. I don't think I want to get naked."

The last thing she wanted to do was make a scene and so Ariadne decided that showing up a little early was a good idea. Moving around, settling in, fading into the background and just watching things go on was fine for now - she had a sneaking suspicion that she'd be called out or pulled out from the wall once certain people caught an eye on her.

But she was content in the back, watching the mingling and Dionysus playing hte room. And it wasn't like she was extremely comfortable with the fact that several of the Gods were to be there. She'd made a silent vow to restrain herself from bitching at them this evening, though she doubted it'd last for long ( ... )
