From fannish5: Sept. 5, 2008 - Five favorite (or most memorable) lines of dialogue.
  1. Torchwood - 'Dead man Walking'. Ianto Jones: I have searched for the phrase "I shall walk the Earth and my hunger shall know no bounds," but I keep getting redirected to Weight Watchers.

  2. Doctor Who by Steven Moffat - 'The Doctor Dances'. Rose Tyler: Saved my life. ( Read more... )

That line from Life is one of my favourites ever. And your other picks are excellent, as well.

I agree with you - Life is full of brilliant lines, but that's probably the best.

The one from Torchwood is good because it's such a wonderful parody of Lovecraftian melodrama.

I'm sooooooo happy they're bringing life back for a second season! Totally one of those quiet, under radar sort of hits :D

.... at least last I heard it's coming back~

The problem with starting to quote Miles Vorkosigan is knowing when to stop.

As for Doctor Who, my favorite line (so far) is the one (in season 2, don't know the name of the episode) where the Doctor exuberantly declaims, "I just snogged Madame de Pompadour!" Not that it has any existential meaning or anything, but he just looked so pleased with himself...

"I just snogged Madame de Pompadour!"

Yes, wasn't that fun? The episode is called "The Girl in the Fireplace" - another Hugo-award-winner written by Steven Moffat.

The problem with starting to quote Miles Vorkosigan is knowing when to stop.

That is just so true.

Quoting Miles is like spelling banana. Or Mississippi.

And that episode won a Hugo? Nifty.

Yes. I think all Steven Moffat's Doctor Who episodes of the past four years have - "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances", "The Girl in the Fireplace", and "Blink". It seems quite possible that the two episodes he wrote this year, "Silence in the Library/The Forest of Trees" might win one too, though I didn't think they were as good.
