As I explained with Jack's Pick, fatchickengirl challenged damalan to write a short piece of Torchwood poetry of eight syllables per line. His poem, End of Days, is here. I did the same, with my own 'constraint'and their okay. I think I ought to name this poetic form after them - a 'damirl' or 'fatlan'. Hmm.

The first of a series of my own:

Endings and Beginnings

Endings are not like this. New starts
Vindicate themselves with results.
Events fall into patterns, not
Retconned into meaninglessness.
Yesterday's memory fades. Today's
Toughens the spirit. While it rains,
Here at night in Cardiff, Torchwood
Interrogates the dead: a man
Natters about his pregnancy:
Gotta be ready for something.

Change happens, in this insane world.
Hubs tickle new unseen planets,
Aliens live in our sewers.
No one sees the future but Jack,
Glam survivor of distant war,
Enveloping Torchwood with love,
Seeing disasters yet to come.
