Torchwood, gone but not forgotten

So Russell T Davies is back in England working on a kid's show. And of course John Barrowman and Eve Myles want to do another Torchwood - but I'd not longer want to see Torchwood written by Russell T Davies, who likes to torture Captain Jack way too much.

Maybe if Stephen Moffat wrote it...

Any other candidates for lead writer?

Well... who is good? who is also British? Mark Gatiss: Perhaps one of the Hustler writers? My favourite Torchwood writer was Catherine Treganna. I'd give her the show, quite happily!

If Steven Moffat wrote Torchwood, I'd be a very happy fan. Though my head would hurt quite a lot, I suspect. I love his writing, and he makes me think a lot, which is great.

Yup, Moffat would have the right combination of insanity and complication.

I'm up for any good writer who realizes that the death of children is not inconsequential.

I was saddened when Torchwood developed the Star Trek Baby Disease.

the Star Trek Baby Disease.

I'm not familiar with that one - did babies die in Star Trek?

All the time. It's why Moffet insisted Jenny live.

With the exception of Wesley Crusher, offspring had a bad habit of showing up at the beginning of an episode and dying off before the end. Bad as that habit was by itself, there was never any follow-through or any grieving. This is considered to be the most emotionally devastating experience there is, and it was treated as if it were nothing.

That big a break with emotional realism is more than I can take. I'll put up with any number of rubber monsters, but I expect the emotions to be real.

Yeah. Besides which, it's a depressing theme, too.

He goes through a space-time-wibbly thing and ends up in a parallel Torchwood Three where Ianto, Tosh and Owen are still alive!

Sounds good to me!

I'd so love to see Tosh again.

If Moffat wrote Torchwood, we would have yet another series with people running down dark hallways. :~D

So we would!

I'm not sure he'd be good with Torchwood, but I'd like to think he'd keep some humour in it, and leave our characters alive and intact.
