Like a friend said, though, they could have brought him down and to this point by other means than repetitive, formulaic manpain...
How could the angels not know about Ben? I really think they might have had something to do with getting into the world (i.e keeping the blood line going just in case).
But your right if the angels don't know about Ben, telling them about your big weakness/possible scare secondary child vessel is a big bad idea.
