Also, I really would have liked Dean to remember that it's NOT A GOOD IDEA TO TELL THE ANGELS THAT HE MAY HAVE A SON. What with the bloodlines and how they're not all that shy of using children as vessels and all. Ahem. Yes, he did make a choice, but clear thinking apparently isn't on the menu for him, currently.
... that said, after losing Sammy and Mary last ep, I can see how.
Like a friend said, though, they could have brought him down and to this point by other means than repetitive, formulaic manpain...
How could the angels not know about Ben? I really think they might have had something to do with getting into the world (i.e keeping the blood line going just in case).
But your right if the angels don't know about Ben, telling them about your big weakness/possible scare secondary child vessel is a big bad idea.
It would really depend on ... a number of things. That would be for the writers of the show to answer, really, although since no reference has been made of him by the angels, and they're going to go... a different length soon, which would have been easier served by Ben, I'd go with no, they don't know. Hell, if anything, Zachariah would have tried to use the kid as leverage. Sigh.

And possibly will. But I think it's more likely that little Ben will soon become Michael's vessel. Dean will do whatever needs to be done - I hope! - but his son will be the price.

I can't really tell if he's thinking at all. Either he's being really clever and has ideas we don't know about, or he's blundering mindlessly along. I hope it's the first.
As for Ben: we shall see. Currently I think Michael is going to find and use Ben rather than Dean, but who knows?

I just wish they'd done it better - keeping him more in character.

I know Zach will try something rather more outlandish, next; if Ben will be back on the show, I haven't heard yet. Although, it's Spn. Anything is possible. (Up to and including that Ben isn't Dean's son, small as that probability is, but, you know.)

kittydesade and I have been ranting at each other for a day how the writing this season has plummeted in quality. Of course, the characters suffer, since that was the best thing about this show, and now it's... ugh. I want it back.
My reasons for thinking Ben will return to the show most are based on the fact that they mentioned him again. If he weren't to be a part of the show, it would be even more of an odd tangent than it is. We didn't even see him, but we were gratuitously reminded of his existence.

It wouldn't look so bad if it hadn't been so good previously.
*sighs* This. Muchly. I want my show back.

I think it depends who's doing the thinking. I'm not sure Zacharia would be that subtle. He seems rather dim when it comes to strategy.
