My favourite Gwen Cooper moments...

Jul 24, 2009 23:49

We all know a lot of Torchwood fans don't like Gwen Cooper. And some fans compare and contrast her to Ianto - as if it's an either/or choice, we can like one or the other, but not both. I liked both of them, and loved their different relationships with Jack, and loved the way they cared about each other, without jealousy, even though they both ( Read more... )

Having finally seen Children of Earth, I kept wondering why they didn't track Emma down in London (for her protection, one assumes) - having another local, at least to provide safe cover, might have been very useful.

Maybe they didn't want to endanger anyone? I'm sure Jack has friends in London - and Ianto must have known some non-Torchwood people when he lived there. But it's one thing to have people you could go to as outlaws on the run, and quite another to trust them not to turn you in - either deliberately or by accident - or not to be in the line of fire when the people with guns come along.

I'm sure Jack could have gone to Martha Jones' family - either Tish or their parents. But there are many reasons he wouldn't want to. Keep the damage contained as much as possible.

As far as that goes, they could surely have gone to Sarah Jane Smith. I kept wondering what was happening with her, and whether Luke was young enough to be affected by the alien control. Or young enough to be chosen as a unit for delivery.

In lizbee's post about days 3 & 4, there were some entertaining
remarks about Martha & Sarah Jane being stuck in Antarctica, trying to hitch hike aboard a whale to get back to help. I think Luke & pals are safely
post-pubescent. (as would have been the elder Frobisher daughter, as well, from her appearance).

I'll have a look at lizbee's comments.

Yes, I'd have thought Luke & company and the older Frobisher daughter were post-pubescent, but we don't know exactly where the alien's cut-off point was. Clearly the older girl was affected by the alien's psychic control, as was Clem - so it wasn't entirely an absolute.

Come to think of it, Luke might be a sort of ... special case. After all, he's literally only two or three years old, right? Postpubescent or not.

Yes!! I love #13 the best: that their love for Jack drew Gwen and Ianto closer. It's a wonderful thing for them to have in common.

Lovely picspam.

I think that's something that often happens in real life, but is seldom seen on television.

Glad you enjoyed my picspam! It was fun to do.

Number thirteen is the one that really made me see that despite Gwen being jealous of Ianto's relationship with Jack (hear her monologue in Sin Eaters), she loves Ianto too much to get between the. Which made me really love Gwen again :D They are her boys, she loves them all, and it was wonderful to see on screen. Also, that spliced with her giggling over alt!Owen in 'Adam' was a great glimpse at their friendship too.

Season 3 Gwen is an awesome Gwen that I wish we saw from the get go :D Action ready, quick on her feet, and ready to face these impossible changes Jack's been rambling about for ages~

I haven't heard "Sin Eaters" yet. Soon!

I think so. I like the way she interacts with Jack, Ianto, Andy and Rhys. Liked the way she was with Owen in series 1, too, even though it was a shock at first.

My goodness yes. It was wonderful to see.
