And Now The End Is Near

Well I know I wanted to work a few less hours than I have been working but I didn't mean I wanted to quit work altogether. Woolworths went into the hands of administrators last wednesday. I have a job for the next week or so but after that who knows ( Read more... )

Woolworths? I miss that store. I used to go there almost every day after school as a kid. It closed here many years ago ( about 20)

i'll keep my fingers crossed that your store stays open as long a spossible and that you do find another job soon

Thanks, I have a job until christmas, after that I'm not sure but I don't really want to out of work for long. Until the company gives us a leaving date etc there's nothing I can do anyway.

Nothing is certain nowadays, which is a real shame.

I miss the Woolworths we had here I swear it had everything.

Customer numbers have been falling for sometime, it is hard to compete with some companies and then there's the internet. I shall miss woolies too as I have never worked for anyone else.

Thanks, I hope so too. I have a job at least until christmas but after that we have no idea. The administrators are hoping to sell the company as a going concern but no one company is going to buy 813 stores, my guess is that it will be a gradual sell off, store by store or region by region. I can't look for another job until I know when we finish and wether I get redundancy money or not. So for the time being I'm trying to be positive.

I understand your anxieties. I’m myself soon 45 years old and my future is rather uncertain. But it’s always necessary to keep the morale and to look the good side of the things, is not it? The sense of humour, the laughter, are with the love (in the broad sense of the term naturally) a very good remedy against the stressful situations.
For example, this, always makes me laugh ! :) I remained very childish ;)

lol I love the cartoon! I still watch the occassional one on tv, who says you have to be grown up all the time. I saw an article the other day that said that happy people make those around them happy too. I'm trying my best at work but it is hard.

No problem with the english at all, it is very good
