Getting back on track

Well, last night was opening night of The Music Man. The show itself was fine, with as many bumbles and "moments" as usual. For me, though it wasn't quite so fun because earlier in the day I got water plugged in my ear and I was half deaf. Not only is this bad if one needs to sing, it also meant that I felt like I was half not there for all the fun ( Read more... )

I remember my German teacher (who also taught French) playing something Celine Dion recorded in French and then saying, "I don't know why she thinks this will sell in France. French women aren't this desperate!"

...It is entirely possible that that teacher is the part of junior high that I miss the most. ;)

My French is extremely limited. With German, on the other hand, I get really irritated with subtitles pretty often, because they translate poorly and for no reason. I mean, there's no reason to translate "millions of deaths would have been prevented" as "millions of lives would have been saved." I realize that the end results of the sentences are the same, but the sentences aren't the same. Drives me nuts.

I need to do what you're doing too, treat writing like a job. Otherwise, I end up playing plants vs zombies or facebooking during my entire writing time. I must be stopped!

Oh, ear trouble. You have my sympathy. As a recent entrant into the early hearing loss camp complete with tinnitus, you totally do. Hope yours gets better soon!

Congrats on the show, and good luck on the new projects/goals!

PS: Planning on seeing Brave at a midnight premiere, as I have to stay up late on Thursdays for work anyway. :)

Hehe, see, for some reason I had it in my head that Brave opened this Friday (the 15th), which I had already taken off work to recuperate from Hell Week for the show. So I thought it was ideal timing and I could go to a midnight showing.

Nope... I had the wrong week. It was very disappointing!

My hearing is mostly restored, for now. Thanks for the well-wishes!

Oh, that sucks. But next week will be here before you know it. Ironically, due to some work changes, I'm actually off Fri/Sat this week, so I don't have to stay up on Thursday. Therefore, I'll likely not be doing a premiere after all.

Glad your hearing is better. Mine is gone and not to return, they say, but what'cha gonna do? It's minor so far and that's a blessing, so I'll just take it and move on. The ringing gets old, but after four months of is (so far and again it ain't going anywhere), I'm learning to deal.
