I hate parking lots

I'm about to suck it up and pay the stupidly high fee for a covered parking spot at my apartment complex. Not because I need covered parking, but because so few people pay for the spots that I'd be less likely to ever have people park next to me ( Read more... )

people suck, my poor car, melt down

You have good car insurance...call it in if you do say it's a hit and run...

It's a possibility, but I'm a horrible liar. And if someone comes out to look at the damage... I don't know, I can't think of a way I could get hit on the road that would result in that sort of a scrape. I think I'd be better off just sucking it up and paying for it myself, it's small enough that it shouldn't be too expensive.

In your opinion, how much should it cost to repaint about a hand-sized patch of car? I mean, I know that Chevy is still making this paint, it really shouldn't be hard to get, and my car's still less than six months old...

it's NOT a lie...you weren't around to see the hit so it's a hit and run. Why pay for it yourself that's why you pay insurance! Be honest and tell what happened.

In my line of work we charge like 150 for it...outside workers charge 25-50 percent mark up.

Yeah, but my insurance is kind of wonky -- I think that stuff that happens when I'm not driving falls under a category of insurance I don't have because it's not required and I chose not to get it because it was outrageously expensive. I'll have to look into it.

I was figuring it'd be about $175-$250, so that's about right. Mom said that if I took it to the dealership it'd be more expensive, but that I might not get the colour matched right if I took it elsewhere. I'm just going to have to go get someestimates, I think. I don't really want to go to the dealership since I got horrible service throughout the final stages of my transaction, but if it's that much cheaper...

Thanks for the rec... whether I go through insurance or pay out of pocket, I at least want to get lots of estimates.
