As if Gabe was not going to be home; even though he'd buried the hatchet with Kilroy, he was still on a mostly-self-imposed seclusion. The animals more than kept him busy; he had to take care of the cats and the goose, and collecting all of those eggs was enough to keep him busy. Plus he had to keep finding places to put them.
He was lugging a bag of the things to an empty closet when the phone rang. He dropped the bag and headed for the kitchen, picking up the line with a cheerful, "Hello?"
"Hello!" Gabe greeted him, just as cheerful. "I'm good. Nope, not interrupting anything," his phone was cordless, so he held it between his shoulder and ear on his way to pick up the bag and shove it into the closet. "I'm moving goose-eggs to the downstairs closet. How are you?"
