The entire universe was turning inside out and flowing into a vortex of shapes and colors, with words taking on physical forms to thrash upon the pages of Neil's compendium like fishes out of water, but there was something, something crawling under his skin - Neil could see them there, moving, but if he touched them, the sky would come undone and burst into flames and

A voice? Was that a voice?

Poorly hidden behind a large potted fern, Neil crouched, the pen in his hand feeling incredibly heavy, and now elongating itself and forming into something like a serpent to wrap around his wrist. He dropped the serpent, along with the compendium, whimpering a little. Neil heard the voice and lifted his head only to find a colorful, shimmering mass of light, which vaguely resembled a human form.

"It's not, the world is and I..."

The sound of his own voice was tangible and beginning to frighten Neil with their smothering, so he stopped speaking and became absolutely still, wishing it would all go away.

Kilroy motioned at David and then took a step toward Neil. "Caterpillar. There's nothing to be afraid of, we're just going to take you somewhere safe, alright?" He crouched down a little and held his hand out to his friend, searching his eyes and finding a universe of unleashed insanity the rest of Carrol's tales were burdened with. When The Hatter went on a bad trip he would dismantle the world and anything that got in his way, but the Caterpillar curled himself up so tight that it would be a wonder if he ever managed to escape.

"I know you don't recognize me, but I'm The Hatter. I'm here to take care of you." Kilroy said like he was speaking to a child. "Behind me is David. David is going here to help, too. There's nothing to be afraid of." He repeated keeping his hand outstretched.

With wide, unblinking eyes, Neil stared at this figure coming closer. The sound of its voice was soothing, but the words coming from its mouth... some of them wafted up to the ceiling where they hovered for a while before dissipating into a stream of colors, while the heavier words sunk to the floor, melting into the carpet and grew into a field of tall grass that waved gently in the wind ( ... )

Like an insect, Neil frantically tried to scramble away, but was thwarted by something heavy holding him. Even more oppressive than the weight pressed upon his shoulders were the words being shouted at him, echoing in the chambers of his mind. Somewhere in his drug-addled brain, he could recognize the distorted voice as Kilroy's, but he was too far gone to acknowledge him.

Trying with all his might to push Kilroy off, Neil succeeded and attempted to slide away further, when he seized up and started to quake uncontrollably. Things were going from bad to worse.

Kilroy getting to Neil first, the hallucinating man struggling fiercely, David was quick to join in holding Neil down as his friend shoved Kilroy away and proceeded to attempt to scramble farther away. Gripping onto Neil's shoulders, David managed to stop him, though felt him shaking violently under his hands.

"Shit," he muttered under his breath as he shifted around to gain some leverage before attempting to lift Neil up onto his feet. "Kilroy! Help me lift him up into that chair." With a short-lived glance he indicated the olive green chair not too far from where they were, before focusing all his attention on his sick friend.

Kilroy scrambled toward the chair and pushed it forward so that David could set Neil down it in easily. "This is bad." He muttered quietly so that Neil couldn't hear and then crossed his arms. The right thing to do was to sedate him, but Kilroy had thrown all those drugs out of his house. They'd have to wait for Neil to calm down or pass out.

"I'll call my bodyguard once he passes out and take him to my house." He turned slightly as he whispered to David. "He's under whatever he took pretty bad, I can't take him to a hospital."
