Don't take it to heart peachysakura24 April 16 2007, 20:04:23 UTC
If you and Michael are bad parents, I'm the pope. I can't get the picture in question to load because it keeps telling me there is a problem with the page, but I am sure you wouldn't teach your children to flip off the camera. Kids hold up inappropriate fingers, they say curse words when they don't know they are bad, and they very loudly yell out in stores just how much money you just withdrew from the ATM, and why you should totally be able to afford what it is they want. It's just what they do. :)
I think you and Michael will make wonderful pet parents as well. I love that your kitty has joined the rank of Disney princess names. :)

Flipping of the Bird sweetnsassysueb April 17 2007, 00:10:38 UTC
As you know Dolores I am a Special Education Teacher... I am currently teaching multiply impaired 4 year olds. One of my little girls has a cognitive level of about 6-7 months. She loves to investigate her fingers and occasionally "flips me the bird". The funny part is she usually does it at times when it would be somewhat appropriate for her to protest. She also usually has a frustrated look on her face. We are teaching her to put two fingers up instead of the one and make the peace sign instead. She does seem to be catching on.

Not that I ever believed that Ariel was flipping off the camera... but I just thought I would share and spell your name correctly :-D I get points for that right??? Huh??? Huh???

FWIW SueB filled me in on the nonsense. I think you're doing the right thing. You rent, you have kids to consider and the cat won't even remember it in a short time-its not like they have super long memories of such events. Honestly, if I had gotten my cat as a kitten he would have gotten the same treatment but he was already 1.5 years old and I thought it was too late to do it to him then. His scratching is the only thing about him I would really change if I could but we've tried EVERYTHING out there and he will still scratch where we wish he wouldn't. Oh well, we own our place and its our problem to live with it. We don't have to worry about small kids and security deposits. Frankly, if small kids are around he tends to run and hide until they leave anyway :-) (Smart cat!) So, no worries, people with no sensitivity to specific instances don't warrant the attention they garner with their outbursts. If you were doing something like that for cosmetic reason I'd think it cruel, as you mentioned, the shortening of a puppy's tail.
