[The camera angle shows a clear view of the inside of a front loading dryer. Through the clear, if slightly linty, plastic on the front you can see a steak sitting inside. It looks rather raw. Almost oozing, really ( Read more... )

[Eddie comes on screen] Um. Sorry about that, everyone.

[He thrusts a scrubbing brush off camera,] Victor, get cleaning.

[And back to everyone else,] I'll explain later.

[SPAM]

Seriously, Victor, get cleaning that off.

Yes, and I will say it was all approved by me. I won't allow any misconceptions for that.

[He peered into the machine,] I think this thing is much better at drying clothes than experiments.

This is good. I did not believe that you would do so. [After all, Eddie had always been trustworthy in the past.]

[Victor looks into the machine as well.] Yes, I believe so. Some of the meat seems to cling most persistently to it.

[Eddie frowns, and reaches in, trying to pick a bit of the meat off with his hand, and frowning.] Might need a little more elbow grease.

[pause] I won't let anyone treat you badly because of this, but I won't stop the consequences of what you've done, either. I'll explain everything, but they still might not like it.

[Victor returns to scrubbing it. He does a decent, if not particularly enthusiastic, job.]

They will no doubt forget in time. They do for most things. [Victor shrugs. It doesn't particularly worry him.]

[He peered inside at the job Victor was doing and nodded quietly to himself,]

Just because people forget, or are ignorant of something, doesn't make it acceptable.

It is acceptable? [Victor asked, nodding towards the dryer. It certainly wasn't done yet, but he wanted to know that what he'd done so far was decent work.]

Perhaps it is so. But the fact that it will not remain with them always is telling.

[Eddie peers inside,] Looks like a good start. You've got a bit more to do, but it's good.

[pause]

I think things remain more than you think.

[Victor sighs, but gets back to the scrubbing. It should hopefully be over soon enough.]

So you say. But we live in a place of mysteries. Even death does not keep here. [Victor doesn't sound impressed about that. Not one bit.]

[Eddie frowns] I know. But it's still generally accepted that killing is wrong.

So it is. Yet bringing back to dead is accepted. [Victor shakes his head, but keeps on scrubbing.] Madness.

I think it's always easier to accept something that preserves life than ends it. Even if it's artificial.

It does not preserve, it creates anew. [Victor frowns.] I believe I was victim to this process, once.

Aren't people, basically, better alive than dead?

Some ways of living are not appropriate. They defy what is natural.
