I will be there shortly.
[And he rushes off, because this is a conversation best held in person. People tend to pay more attention to him when he's right there. He doesn't even waste time with introductions, pulling the curtain to give them some privacy and sitting on the edge of the bed.]
Victor, why do you feel that your assumptions were correct concerning the creature?
[Victor's playing with his journal, half sitting up in bed. He doesn't look surprised when Data appears. If anything, he seems to have have swapped to being miserable so soon after making such an angry post.]
They were, were they not? For such a manner of creature, they are physically slow. Less refined. Less human, as one would say.
[Victor stares at his journal for a long moment, but not doing anything with it.] It seems there are refined, humanlike creatures like yourself and even perhaps like Rex. And then there are others, like that which was created by my own hands.
James McCullen, the twenty-fourth. [He'll spare you the titles. That he mostly made up.] How can you be so sure that the Doctor is not judged in the least by his appearance?
And the following rant is how you know she's off the painkillers. :cgotgreenmagicMarch 26 2011, 10:17:25 UTC
First of all, the next time you call me that, I am going to break your nose. You calling me that is about as stupid and nonsensical as me calling you Vic of the Tor.
Secondly, whether or not I agree is completely irrelevant. I'm not gonna speak for the whole Barge - see how we differ there? - but I think you're a prejudiced, xenophobic, shallow, wilfully ignorant moron. And conceptually speaking? Having you speak for everyone is only a few steps down from having Lewis decide a bunch of us were all gonna act for him.
I'd ask if you understand, but I already know you don't. So go ahead, dismiss me as another monster if it'll make you feel better.
Funny. And, as usual, wholly incorrect. But I've come to expect that of you. For a supposed scientist, you've a particular talent for being unobservant.
You were the first person to treat me as less than human for my appearance. Others may have recoiled, but they were largely respectful, at least, of my species. You were the only one who felt my appearance gave you an inherent superiority over me.
And that's why you were chosen for that particular punishment. You, and you alone. I only made it so others could see you for the monster you are.
Yet through your actions you have proven me correct. You had to engage in scientific means to drag another down to your own level, thus proving your inferiority.
I merely remain pleased that the powers of the universe have chosen to thrust upon you an appearance that serves as a warning of your character. It is most fitting.
TELL ME IF THIS IS TOO MUCH FOURTH WALLING. I can edit/deletestopthat_destroMarch 26 2011, 02:08:50 UTC
Monsters are created; they're shaped by the environment around them. Their experiences, the people. Perhaps you should remember that before you make more men into monsters through your thoughtlessness.
It's funny. I've known your story since I was a child. [BECAUSE REX WAS A NERDY CHILD AND READ LOTS.] I always sympathized with the creature, because he hadn't done anything to deserve your scorn. You were the villain to me.
And yet, when you arrived here, I gave you a chance. You were polite to me, so I saw no reason to give you the same consideration. And then my scars returned, and you showed me your true nature. Ugly, petty, pathetic.
And then I thought: Ah, there's the man I read about.
I love Victor fourth walling. <333failedcreatorMarch 26 2011, 02:40:33 UTC
I have only ever created one such being and have not intention to make another. Had you truly read Walton's notes on the matter you would have noted my refusal to create a wife for the creature. [Yeah, after you half made it, Victor. Nice.]
Your sympathy with the creature is due to the fact that although you were human in appearance at the time, you recognised the same darkness within it that was inside yourself. Thus, you responded against the most reasonable figure within the text, namely myself.

I am not interested in your rambling words of hate. You clearly do not know of what you speak. You have clearly misunderstood the issues at hand.
I do not think you are a monster, Shego. You are merely different in nature.
