I will be there shortly.
[And he rushes off, because this is a conversation best held in person. People tend to pay more attention to him when he's right there. He doesn't even waste time with introductions, pulling the curtain to give them some privacy and sitting on the edge of the bed.]
Victor, why do you feel that your assumptions were correct concerning the creature?
[Victor's playing with his journal, half sitting up in bed. He doesn't look surprised when Data appears. If anything, he seems to have have swapped to being miserable so soon after making such an angry post.]
They were, were they not? For such a manner of creature, they are physically slow. Less refined. Less human, as one would say.
[Victor stares at his journal for a long moment, but not doing anything with it.] It seems there are refined, humanlike creatures like yourself and even perhaps like Rex. And then there are others, like that which was created by my own hands.
You were no less human than you are now. An impairment does not detract from humanity...
[He puts his finger on the journal and sort of pushes down to get him to lower it. It would appear gentle, but his strength is pretty inherent in the motion. He wants Victor's attention.]
[And hey, that more or less requires Victor to look from the journal to Data's face. He looks very uncomfortable.]
I did not feel as if I were myself. It appears that I was as something different entirely. I have not determined whether it was equally or less human. That will likely require further consideration.
Were you angry at Rex when you discovered that it was him, though you had not recovered enough at adequately articulate your rage? [Androids don't have to blink if they don't want to. Victor's getting stared at uncomfortably.]
But he did specially design you. That creature that he turned you into, was his creature. And he mocked and celebrated your discomfort. This made you angry, because you knew you were being mistreated. ...But you did not feel similarly toward me, did you?
[His brow creases up. At least that disconcerting stare is accompanied by one of his more sympathetic expressions now.]
I did not. [Victor spends a moment thinking about this. As much as being as he had been was a confusing, disorientating and frustrating experience, he didn't recall ever feeling like that towards Data.]
If anything, my hatred towards Rex has increase now that I am free from the affects of his chemicals.
Is it that it has increased, or that you now understand it more than you did previously? That he intentionally sought to harm you, where as previously that he was merely responsible for your discomfort?
[Spam] *increased. Ugh, I need to watch my typos. :cfailedcreatorMarch 25 2011, 07:45:53 UTC
I am afraid to say that it has increased. [Victor's being honest here.] Such harm that he caused cannot go unnoted. And not only to myself. The rest of the barge seemed to suffer.
[He nods, though he believes it had a lot to do with his time to dwell and the people that were harmed in the venture.] They did. But you do know, if the nanomites had not reversed the effects, I would not have judged you to be less of a person.
Sometimes when the human mind is ravaged by age, it begins to deteriorate. Would you find an elderly individual with difficulty remembering and expressing his or herself less of person?
But not everyone ages at the same rate. Some people look quite well into their elderly years. Some with rigorous lives and harsh environments age much earlier. External influence is not dissimilar to quick internal alteration.

How did you feel during that time?

I was indeed. [Victor pauses, looking anywhere but Data's face.] He used his scientific skills to specifically ensure that I suffered the most.

That is a different thing indeed. It is the natural progression of age or illness, rather than something of an unnatural nature.

It was not the same, Data. It was something else that cannot be stated. I did not enjoy it in any way.
