I highly recommend The God of Small Things. A very elegant and beautiful book with an interesting structure.

I am nine books away from finishing my 50 books by POC list, so I am going to start with ones that fit that criteria! I have The Inheritance of Loss out from the library at the moment.

Oooh, ooh. I'm so tempted to join you on this. Some of my favorites are here --Ishiguro, Roy, and Desai-- but a lot I haven't read. Are the bolded titles the stories you've read or the stories you haven't?

BTW: Coetzee has a lot of great works. I'd also recommend "Slow Man." (If you have the time after all this!)

Bolded = read. Why don't you list for me the ones you've read and I'll recommend some others on the list that I think you'd like? There have only been a couple of books I outright disliked, and a lot that I ADORED.
