I'm So DEAD

Sooo, Casi got a couple of new pets that need names other than Snake Food #One and Snake Food #Two (I call them #one and #two for short). They are a pair of one white; one black adorable over-active rats that I saved from where they were co-habituating with a pair of snakes that refused to eat them. They were just too cute to get eaten ( Read more... )

As they are both males those name combos seem kinda mean.

I would prefer mice as well. As pets. Feel kind of bad for the one my cat is currently chasing around our basement. Do they have really long tails, the rats? Do you let them run around your room? I have always wanted my brother to get one so that I could play with it occasionally but my mom says that they stink and won't let him get one.

Rats don't stink, but their cages sure do if they're not cleaned regularly - they sort of piss and shit everywhere, it's what they do. So as long as your brother's willing to commit to keeping their environs properly tidy, there shouldn't be an odor problem.

hmm, my brother isn't very good at taking care of anything. I was thinking about it and animals probably wouldn't be taken care of in his hands anyway. They wouldn't be loved properly. When I move out, I should get a whole mess of animals.

Right now I'm trying to get them used to being held. They have a long time to go before they are let down on the floor.

I'm sure like any animal their tanks can get really stinky when you don't clean them.

The funnest rodent is guinea pigs, make your brother get one of those.

I have strong feelings against mice. The ones we had to work with in my lab animals class were evil! they were un-socialized, super hyper, long-fanged spawns of satan. Having your finger bitten by a mouse hurts really really bad, and bleeds a lot, and makes a big bruise. Very not fun.
I much prefer rats. Most rats I have met/handled have been very nice and docile and even cuddly.

These ones definately have the potential for being nice and cuddly. Right now ones got the other pinned down in the corner of the cage as he refuses to sleep anywhere but on top of the other guy. It's cute.

Chester and Baxter. No reason to the names, I just had them out and it felt right.
