Yes, indeed, I did. So far, the countryside is beautiful. Apart from that, Missouri is terrifying. The town immediately off-post has 2500 people. The next town has 3500. Its town center isn't even four square blocks. I thought Lawton was bad. I see now that Lawton was NOTHING compared to this. There is a Wal-Mart and a Lowe's and that is IT. There isn't even a real DMV; it's a contractor who serves the entirety of Pulaski County and has an office smaller than my old Starbucks. And the closest CITY (er, "city") is 30 miles away and has a population of 12000.
Congratulations! You are now officially more isolated than I am.
Uh, check the public library for internet. The one in Plains, pop. 1200, has free wireless powered by a T1 line that'll download a two-hour hi-def movie in ten minutes, which is by far the fastest connection I've ever experienced (that's where I drag my laptop every week to do my major downloading). You never know where you'll find a good connection.
