You know, in my hallucinatory state, when I first looked at that photo I saw each square of the blanket as a little smiley face, and it was super trippy. Someone ought to make up a crochet pattern that would look like that.

You did a really nice job, by the way.

Thanks! I can see the smiley faces now too--it's a curse!

I like it! Of course it has a "quilt pieces" kind of look which is just the way I like things. I don't think it's too feminine. good job.

Thanks! The reason that I don't like making it is because it gets very tedious. Even though it's all squares and diamonds, it's actually made in the round.

You start in the center and work your way out. Each little square is also a round. It's not a difficult pattern, but like I said, I get a little bored--and that's when I goof up!

I don't understand crochet at all, so I'm going to ask a dumb question...was this all made as one big piece, or did you have to sew each square together?

It's all little pieces that are crocheted together using the "holes" of the granny square.

Good LORD you are a committed woman. I hope the recipient knows how lucky they are...

Thanks! I gave it to her yesterday and she said that it turned out nice. That's more of a response than I was actually hoping for.
