i make mistakes. they are kind of embarrassing.

What's up with me?  In a word:  stress.  I am stressed out.  The last critique was one of the worst experiences of all time!  Not only did I make one too many poor choices, but my professor was vicious and I had a raging fever.  Never again.  Now, I only have about 458325948 things to take care of.

at that point [of saying the wrong thing in spanish], you should just smile at yourself. i know no one feels like doing that when they have a fever, but you deserve to give yourself a break.

and i'm glad someone used "dashed" in a sentence...that one needs busted out once in a while.
