Word Count: 457
The clock on the wall slowly ticks the seconds away, each movement of the second hand sounds loud in the heavy silence. Time is running out for them and Faith can’t help but wonder how she got involved in some war between Heaven and Hell in the first place. As she looks at Dean who is going through the motions of preparing their weapons, she knows that he is probably wondering the same thing.
Their eyes meet across the room and she knows that this is worse for him. On the other side is his brother and that fact alone is consuming him. The guilt over the fact that he couldn’t save Sam is tearing Dean apart and Faith isn’t sure what she can do, if there is in fact anything that she can do. She momentarily wishes that Buffy was there, the blonde Slayer would know just what to say at a time like this.
Faith moves to Dean and wraps her arms around him, stilling his movement. He pulls her close to his body and Faith can feel the evidence of his guilt and sorrow in the weight that Dean has lost in the past year or so. It’s been a hard year full of sacrifice, loss and constant hardship. Right now, even though the clock is against them, she knows that what they both need is a bit of time to forget everything.
She places her hands on his face and kisses him. Dean sighs as he returns the kiss with passion. Her hands slip underneath the worn cotton t-shirt that he’s wearing as she straddles his lap. Faith temporarily forgets that the war is almost upon them when Dean’s hands cup her breast. His mouth is against her neck and Faith quietly moans when he nips where her neck curves into her shoulder.
Their motions become hurried and frantic as a result of their awareness that time is running out and the burning need that they have felt for one another since they first met one another fourteen months ago at some roadhouse. They don’t even have the time to properly remove their clothes and in their haste, Dean pushes up the skirt that Faith is wearing while her hands make quick work of his belt and the fly of his pants.
It’s rushed and over before it even really began but it’s a slice of Heaven when Hell is fast upon them, When Faith goes to move, Dean’s hands hold her still as he buries his face in the crook of her neck. His entire body trembles as she holds him tightly. They both know that even if they do somehow manage to survive the impending war, everything will be different afterwards.
