Summary: Buffy never actually calls Faith.

Her cell phone shrilly beeps as it notifies her of the new voicemail waiting for her, and Faith sleepily curses as she reaches for the phone. No doubt it’s one of Buffy’s little minions calling to tell her that there’s either a demon for her to hunt or a new Slayer for her to extract.
Buffy never actually calls Faith to tell her new job she’s expected to do. Instead Queen B orders someone to do the distasteful task of giving Faith her orders. Of course the thought that Faith might refuse never enters Buffy’s head, instead she assumes that Faith will do her dirty work for her. Faith’s never quite sure if why Buffy assumes that Faith will comply.
Then again maybe Buffy knows that Faith has nothing better to do. She’s an outcast in a world full of Slayers and the thought of retiring just doesn’t appeal to Faith. The need to fight, to kick some ass, to kill monsters and to find her redemption is too strong.
Faith sighs as she listens to the voicemail and she knows that she won’t be getting anymore sleep. Queen B commands and like the good little minion that Faith is, she’ll jump to do Buffy’s bidding.
